No, we don’t rent out but heading up there this weekend. You definitely gotta chase there/WV for a good event this winter. Helps cope with the snow drought here.

I plan on it… have 28 days of PTO saved up, lol. Some will be burned on a (hopefully not ill timed) January vacation, but hope to use some liberally for a good east coast snowstorm or 2!

"This upgrade substantially improves 2 m temperature and 10 m wind speeds, particularly for the winter months in the northern hemisphere. The largest impacts on 2 m temperature forecasts are for the winter months in the northern hemisphere, where the Continuous Ranked Probability Score (CRPS) is improved by 11% at day 1 and 2% at day 10. These improvements reflect the combined impact of many contributions, including the assimilation of 2 m temperature observation data, upgrades to 4D-Var and land-surface data assimilation methodology, and improvements to the IFS land surface model (Ingleby et al., 2024)."

We have been presented upgrade after upgrade last 10 years with no improvement in outcome.  The microscope approach does not work yet they keep saying they have upgraded the resolution

Euro jumps back out. lol good thing it isn’t snow…

Seems to be some growing consensus that there will be a significant east-west gradient of precip.   Folks west of the Potomac are in way better shape than those of us on the east side,
