Air quality alert for that area and adjacent counties too. No mention of the fires in the alert but maybe they’re related.

Can smell smoke in Columbia this morning

Yeah I saw that and looked for mention of the fires, must be related...last night the air quality index at the Edgewood monitor was in the "very unhealthy" category. Not that bad right now.

Here's an article about what's up and APG's "let it burn" policy and why that exists :/

There's probably a discussion raging somewhere about this...if there was testing...if so, why during a state burn ban..idk, I have not seen much news or public info as yet.

After it seems like we may break the dry streak Sunday-Monday, ensembles really like D9-11 for a widespread rain event. SE ridge continues ridging forever…

We sure could use cold November rain.

56 and cloudy. The beech and oak trees are peaking making for a great second peak (hardwoods change later).

It has reached at least 86F in Huntington, West Virginia. I wonder if the coastal Mid Atlantic could see 90F tomorrow as this superheated airmass descends over the mountains?

85F in Dunkirk, New York today, just off Lake Erie. That’s warm for July.

Pretty wild to have this type of warmth given the legitimately lower sun angle now.  That jet stream has been riding high and I guess it's just gonna take a while to scour out that airmass and build cold air up top.  Not really expecting much snow this winter given the inevitable late start to the season and lack of precip, but maybe we can salvage some windows of opportunities during the wheelhouse period.
