I just hate the days like today. I usually split the year between here and florida. I moved down there a few years ago but my parents live in Michigan and had to move back last year to help mom take care of dad who has passed. Moms going downhill now so I'm here to stay for awhile. The transition into winter through this month and December is the crappy part. Hopefully we can have an active December for once.

Brian D
Wet n windy night into this morning. Already reports of 1.50 -3" of rain, and it's still raining. Winds running up to 50 mph. There is a site near Silver Bay that has reported wind gusts up to 83 mph from the NE. It sits on a ridge about 40 ft above the water on the shoreline. The terrain rises fast there, so it seems the wind is funneling a bit along that stretch. I am nearing the point with mine all too soon as they approach 90 in the coming couple years. I just love the 4 seasons and this doesn't bother me (my wife hates it though). I will be honest, cloudy cold rains in April with t-storm west and south does drive me nuts!!! My nephew just moved to Florida as he hated northern weather!!

DocATL
The weird warm advection from the north is the rub. This whole event is pretty bizarre with how it is unfolding. The fujiwara effect of the lows on the models is trippy.

RogueWaves
Let it snow! A tiny change in the expected BL thermal fields tonight would result in big changes to expected snow amounts. For now, have 2-5" for GLR/Mio/HTL/CAD. The highest amounts are near GLR/ Grayling/Mancelona. Little/no snow accums expected in eastern upper MI, or along the very immediate Great Lakes shorelines. A wide range of snow solutions remains possible. Given that this is a 2nd into 3rd period snow event, and given our office policy/approach, will not be issuing advisories at this time. But at this time, feel that advisories are likely to be needed over the interior of northern lower MI.

Still going to end up with some of the latest first flakes on record, as many areas have not even had a trace. So there certainly could have been a futility watch, even if one was never issued. Detroit - 8th latest first snow, and latest since 2004 Cleveland - will tie 1944 & 1978 for 5th latest first snowfall [each had first snow on 11-21] Alpena - 2nd latest first snow Green Bay - will tie 1918 for second latest first snow [if snow falls today] or finish in sole possession of second place [if it holds off until tomorrow] Sault Ste. Marie - latest first snow flakes on record
cyclone77
Another round of 45-50mph winds on the way for tomorrow. May get a few snow showers late this afternoon which will be nice, but tomorrow's action will miss just east. Nice to get the first flakes of the season though. Brian D
2.98" of rain from this system. 3.99" for the month so far, which is nearly double the avg. Ground soaked up most of it. It was thirsty. Looks like more seasonable wx on tap which means a little more early winter-like wx.

Obvious exaggeration given what's on the table. But a traditional mid-late November solid covering is right on time and good to see the week before Thanksgiving.
