mayjawintastawm
11.5" snow in January, to go with 1.0 in Dec and 25.2 in Nov for a season total of 37.7" so far.
Chinook
seems like some people in the NW are going to be getting 37.7"... tomorrow.

etudiant
Northern California has been getting sustained rain for the last three days, if the radar maps are to be trusted. Has anyone any insight as to whether that is materially more than usual?

My low was 45 up here this morning while Ft Collins is currently sitting at 22.

mayjawintastawm
Snow was quite a bust, but temps weren't. Only 1.1" after 0.5" earlier in the week. Down to 4 now, who knows how low it will go if skies clear.
gallopinggertie
We finally are getting our first (and probably only) snowstorm of the winter here in Portland, Oregon. It’s a dry snow and we already have a bit over 1” since it started snowing an hour and a half ago. This is the first time I’ve seen proper snow since moving here last winter! Snowfall averages only about 4” per winter here. So anything we get is special, but particularly so when we get one of these cold dry snows that immediately start sticking to the road! gallopinggertie
Round two of this mini storm tonight in Portland. After this morning’s dry snow, the evening brought light freezing rain, and now moderate sleet mixed with snow. Roads are ice rinks!

mayjawintastawm
Hopefully this storm will be juicier than the last several for the southern and central mountains. BV looks pretty dry in that picture.
mayjawintastawm
Mountains have done great with this pattern but we've largely missed out, with <0.05" precip through Feb so far and a good chance it will stay basically dry (just traces here and there) close to the rest of the month. Last day with >0.1" water here was... November 9th. Since 11/9, 101 days, Centennial (closest station to me) has had 0.41" water. Grr.
gallopinggertie
That storm last weekend was pretty good (by Portland standards), we ended up with about 4” here. That makes it an incredible 9 straight winters I have seen at least 1” of snow, quite the run for the Pacific Northwest.
Chinook
Here's some fun stuff nice traffic cone Glacier NP The big mountain these snow banks just keep growing, feet and feet Cool Ouray the lower elevations in the foreground here have been covered with snow like once or twice. because, it's above freezing there, 90% of the time?
mayjawintastawm
We got just over 6" of a semi-surprise snow at my place. Gorgeous powder. Of course I had to catch an early flight so was shoveling at 4:15 AM and couldn't go enjoy it... would have been a nice XC ski outing.

smokeybandit
Could be interesting early next week for NE Colorado. Though models keep bouncing all over the place
mayjawintastawm
Feb total 9.6" at my house, season to date 47.3". Doing well in spite of the relative dryness. Next week could indeed be interesting. Almost certain to beat my annual average of around 55-60" thanks to that big November storm.
Chinook
The GFS and ECMWF both predict strong wind and possible blizzard coming up for areas of Colorado, possibly the Palmer Divide.
mayjawintastawm
Temps could be an issue with this one, though usually they trend colder with time. Also speed of the system. Also amount of moisture. Basically everything. But the next 2-3 weeks are the "most interesting time of the year".
Roger Smith
Clear and mild around here past two days, our 2' snowpack is slowly evaporating. Wonderful view of crescent moon near Venus after sunset -- will repeat in a different orientation Sunday evening. Also easy to find, Jupiter almost overhead at sunset, and mars to its east.
smokeybandit
The Euro started sniffing out that this storm in NE CO was going to be a big whiff. Other models starting to catch on, too.
mayjawintastawm
But the QPF is still pretty robust. 0.5" Denver (5300'), 0.6" here (5650'), 0.7" Parker (6000'), but only 1 inch, 2 inches, and 3.5 inches of snow. Seems as much wet as a whiff. Strange. CO seems to have a force field against upper level lows lately.
smokeybandit
GFS and HRRR now have this has pretty much nothing. NAM is still the only one that has anything more than nuisance snow.
