Overnight runs looked impressive for Sussex. Even into northern Morris and Orange. ECM, RGEM, GFS, HRDPS...

Could be some surprised people up there if they wake up to saggy snow covered branches with some still leaf-covered trees. NWS Mt Holly is finally talking about the banding potential. If it sets up, someone is going to get pounded.

Banding?

The beginnings of this deformation axis are starting now over NJ and will expand NE over time. 18z HRRR has 1-2” more precip especially I-80 and N. It could be quite heavy for a while especially northern areas.

The loop back in from the Atlantic is like a much warmer version of 2-26-10.

The HRRR keeps printing out good (wintry) runs for Orange county. The elevated western parts of the county are obviously in a good spot, but even the Rt 94 corridor looks like it could pick up a few inches. Maybe plowable in some spots. Elevated Putnam, Rockland, and even Westchester has a shot at some accumulation too if the meso models are to be believed. Hopefully at least flakes in the air for many on Friday!

Euro showing a rainstorm for the day after Thanksgiving. Obviously everything has to come to together just right for the coast to see a snowstorm in late November, especially when you don't have a very cold airmass in place. Most likely rain, but we'll keep an eye on it.

One thing for sure is it's going to be a cold pattern after that storm. We'll probably have some days that don't make it out of the 30s. We can hope that sets us up for a snow event in early December.

What’s your take for Orange County from Middletown westward along I-84? Modeling has trended colder for tonight

Sleet rain snow mix over to accumulative snow overnight. Haven’t seen 12Z ec positive snow depth change.  Have to think slippery and plow able even down to 800’. Heading home from work now.  Should be getting slippery in Poconos now above 1800 feet.  Nice backside band developing in radar e central pa western nj. Should be our sleet snow changer thus evening

If it happens, it shouldn't be a surprise since even us amateurs have been talking about potential snow in that area for days. And multi-model guidance has been steadfastedly highlighting the potential. But it's been so long since we've had rain, much less snow, it will seem like a surprise no matter what.

Been modeled by many models for two days. We’ll see what happens.  Elevations good for sccum, sleet could rob 1-3” of potential snow accumulation

Mt Pocono down to 32 with this more intense snow coming in. Should be a fun night there.

Euro AI is way flatter and colder than the euro op.

The pattern has finally flipped, let’s progress into December.
