Surely some inland areas would see Thanksgiving Day snow from this map if it verified. I don't have precip type maps yet but for the coast it might be a close call for rain vs. snow. You do have an e-se wind initially but a good 50/50 low and incoming cold high pressure might help keep the storm south of the area and winds which could back around to north-northeast as the storm heads east south of LI could cause it to at least end as snow at the coast.

Wow... 8.5"!!  beautiful Vernon high terrain.  

me---this southern part of Wantage at about 740' MSL - 215AM 0.7", less slimy slush on untreated pavement. snowing steadily 33F. Last winter we didn't have our first 1/2" till the big 1 foot snow storm of Jan 6-7, 2024.

Power outages juSt in Sussex County NJ...shows relationship to high terrain where probably 4-8" of wet snow has accumulated on trees. I am expecting another 6" high terrain by 7PM tonight for totals 12-15" above 1200 feet elevation..., massive problem for power high terrain.  valleys under 700 feet, probably less than 3-4" with mostly wet roads.   EC was too mixed in its precip forecast... HRRR was excellent as well as NAM 3K from yesterday onward.

Got about 2 inches of snow in Sloatsburg. Snow and rain now, mostly rain though. The high UVVs must have moved out stopping the dynamic cooling for now. 34 degrees

2 inches in white plains measured on table, forecast was for zero.  Got down to 32.6, still no freeze yet

Neat pictures with the snow around the remaining fall foliage.
I measured 3" on the deck here, heavy wet sludge.  Sparta schools are closed today because of higher amounts up on the mountain.
My campus, at 570 feet, is so far, still on a delayed opening.

Just got home, snow stll on grass and car tops.  eyeballing on my ring earlier looks like we got an inch/ inch and a half here in nanuet. rain/snow mix currently.
