12 days left of February and a possible warm up to end the month and begin March, any chance of sustained winter has virtually been thrown out the window at this point. Bring on spring and thunderstorms.

Amen. Been a couple years since we’ve had winter. Just yesterday I was looking up the Illini baseball schedule. I’m already in spring mode.

How y’all enjoying the winter of 24-25? Are we having fun?

Buried here. This is a top 5 snowiest winter I've seen, if the crazy GFS verified giving me 24" during this last stretch that would've been disastrous (or awesome). The sun came out a bit later Mon and I was in awe at the beauty, peak winter. Massive drifts hanging off roofs is a delight. Snow banks 6-8 feet high we don't have anywhere to put the snow. If we didn't have those melts in Dec, it would be like 2000-2001.

Its all LES doing the work. Every season it seems these synoptic systems under-perform by greater margins. I can't recall the last time one verified to expectations. Mind blowingly, I still haven't experienced an actual synoptic winter storm in March although Overnight into Mar 1 2017 was super close, you could count it. Will this be the season or will decades of trend continue?

What did you get on March 3, 2023?  Just wondering as that was a spectacular storm IMBY.

Awesome to hear this is a top 5 winter for you!!  This has been a good winter for me.  Snow cover has been good but nothing amazing.  Snowfall for me has been average.  I also have done very well with LES.  Ski conditions have been very good.  Sledding is good.  Lake ice has been wonderful.

I have hope for more to come but know March is a variable for winter (MJO is in the cold phases currently).  I know the peps to west and south of MI of us are ready to be done (extremely understandably so).  I am not ready to wave the flag just yet :snowwindow:
