ArlingtonWX
While we wait for the recon flight results, does anyone know what these other, presumably commercial, airline flights are doing flying not far from the edge of Milton? Is that normal pilot behavior?

CoastalWx
1 minute ago, ArlingtonWX said: While we wait for the recon flight results, does anyone know what these other, presumably commercial, airline flights are doing flying not far from the edge of Milton? Is that normal pilot behavior? Yes. Outside convection there is little turbulence. Makes sense because you’d expect low shear there. There could be transverse banding causing issues, but what you see there is not uncommon.

There’s reason to believe it was even lower at peak given the recon left before the “best” satellite images. we’re blessed here to have them in at the peak times.
