Picked up 0.47" of rain during the pre dawn hours this morning. Later tonight into tomorrow should be a good douching with some white stuff for the ridges. Typical late Oct wx.

ORD had a low temperature of 67° yesterday, which broke the record high min temp for the date of 65° (1946).

dude wyandotte's got so many sycamore trees. i loved it when I visited my grandma there in my youth days

WWA for the Twin Cities. Potential for 2-4” of wet sloppy snow today. Steady rain has developed and overspread the area overnight.

Wow, awesome!!  Would have love to get something like that.  Of course it helps that my backyard can't flood, well unless Noah type rains occur.

Like last week, the heavy rain band set up over Cedar Rapids.  I finished with 2.53".

Eight days ago my October total was 0.00".  I will finish the month with 3.64".

Yeah this event was looking like a wimpy progressive sloppy second type setup for this area, so not too disappointed with the < half inch rain.  SPC's 2% nader outlook for this whole area yesterday was lol worthy.

Much better rains on the way for the Sun-Tue period.

Transition to snow taking a bit longer then modeled in the metro but areas just west of me are cashing in. Webcams showing healthy accumulation.

Definitely quite a bit. Obviously lots of all kinds of different trees, but what always stand out to me is the high number or horse chestnut trees.

We’ve transitioned over to snow/sleet in the past 90min. Deck and grass is slush covered but the main band of accumulation setup 40 miles to my west where 3-5” totals appear likely.

Huh I just realized I think I live by a bunch of horse chestnuts after looking them up. Always thought they were buckeye trees!

So Madison finished yesterday with a total of 2.21 inches of rain. Making it the 5th 2 inch plus day at Madison this year, tied with 2000 for the most ever. Making this year a top 10 wettest year on record with 43.60 inches and counting, probably will surpass 08 and 07 by the end of next week. And making this month combined with the .28 so far today, an average month of precip which is just hilarious. The whiplash of 2024 continues.

Last Halloween was snowy in Detroit, this one is warm and windy.

Yep two in a row, last year was much snowier but this still counts. Western suburbs have snowcover, for the most part it was white rain here in the city. Warmest autumn so far on record and we still manage our first snowflakes in October.

The way we have been overperforming rain events this year and have had two inch rain events this year, there's a chance we'll be above average by like Tuesday.

I tried some sunset pics yesterday. Perhaps this symbolizes the end of the summertime weather. It feels like October was 80% clear skies.

Likely the most humid Halloween I've ever lived through, our high was 22C with humidex of 26 at one point! I hated how dark and dreary it was though, guess it fits. Rain held off til 6pm, got less than 1mm so far.

0.21" in the tippy bucket. It is good to see some moisture but I would hardly call it wet.
