kdxken
42 minutes ago, Lava Rock said: My worst frostbite was back in the 90s skiing at saddleback. It was 0F and wind was blowing. Got to the top and thought it was best to take the long three mile green trail down since it was sheltered. Without a face mask that didn't end well. Got to the bottom, went into the lodge and nose was white as a ghost. Had no feeling. Once it started warming, the pain was briefly brutal then just sore. Bought a face mask in the ski shop and skied a few more runs, but called it early. went to health center couple days later and they said it was 2nd degree frostbite. memories... Had almost the exact same thing happened to me. 15 below at the bottom of Cannon, who knows what it was at the top. Wind howling as usual. They wouldn't even let you on the lift unless you were completely covered. My gator slipped down and left a space between my goggles. Frostbite on the cheeks.

J Paul Gordon
Hi 72 Low 55 here. Feels about right, but a few degrees cooler than surrounding stations. May be because my thermometer is only about 6 feet off the ground. I'll have to compare it to local readings tomorrow and see if it continues. My car thermometer generally reads 2 or 3 degrees cooler here than locations in town with fewer trees and more concrete. We're on an east facing slope. My thermometer is in the backyard (west side) and there are a lot of trees shading the area.
Spanks45
Hit 82.4⁰, despite some afternoon clouds. Still 80.2⁰ at 4:40 in the afternoon. The low was 41.7⁰, so a nice 40 degree swing today, just finished up some wiffle ball with the kids and ended sweating like it was summertime. No complaints....

Wind howling as usual. They wouldn't even let you on the lift unless you were completely covered. My gator slipped down and left a space between my goggles. Frostbite on the cheeks. Only frostbit my cheeks once, in January 1988, Aroostook. That Wednesday morning the temp at the Forestry building on the east shore of Portage Lake read -32 and the anemometer needle was wiggling at 30 mph - CAR reported WCI at -85 (old scale, -50s with the new) and their max was -9. We'd driven 250 miles from AUG so out we went. Morning on the Oxbow Public Lot was reasonable as we were sheltered from the wind. Afternoon on the Bald Mountain (T12R8, 20 miles west of Ashland) we were facing the gales, and being about 1,000 feet higher than CAR, I doubt we had temps much above -15. Three cold hours on the lot (I had double gloves on, barely sufficient) and we headed out, our staff biologist on his Elan and 2 of us on a Tundra. We had to ride 2 miles on the plowed road as parking was limited, and when we hit that road on the way back - however fast a Tundra would go 2-up was our speed, and I was in the back trying to hide behind the 5'2" driver. Tried to protect my face with my hands, but when we reached the truck, I was told there were matching white hourglass patches on each cheek. 1st degree bite so no problems. Tickled 70 here today, not much WCI.

Something is definitely up there despite the sensor continuously “checking out”. I think Ryan said it was only off +0.4F this summer.

weatherwiz
Wanted to sit outside and watch the Bruins but got dinner going to late. Just went outside to get an Amazon delivery and wish I did. This is phenomenal. Who would ever want 30's and 40's or even 50's?

Not me, I gripe about gnats and melt in the summer sun if I am doing anything physical and it is over 70. It never use to the case but it sadly is now. (90 and cloudy is no issue) We also didn't have gnats here until summer of 23. Cold I am fine with. Today was beautiful however.
