Dudes getting naked to freezes . Personally I’d rather my veggies continue to grow and less heating costs .

It almost feels like you are always trying to convince yourself too.  Never getting too cold there, and never getting too hot.

Enjoy a bit of both.  Freeze in the AM, shorts and tees at the summits in the PM.

What a day.  Also, not a single leaf left.

What's the point of having a freeze if the following 3 weeks are pool weather. More evidence for the fakeness.

But Who really cares if you get a frost, and then it warms up after.  I don’t. My only point was we’ve had a frost, and growing season is done here. Maybe not everywhere, but in a alot of places it’s over. At 980ft if the eggplants are still growing that’s cool too. But most places in New England the growing is finished. And that’s a fact.

No Dice fans here I guess.

Thank you both for the written visual stimulation. With some preference adjustment it just may slow an often inevitable chronological reality. I do remember the “Diceman” and his warm up buddy Wheels. I still remember Wheels lead in monologue joke that consisted of a beach blanket with a printed X, a helicopter and a ceiling fan. If I describe any more I’d be rightfully no posted. Stay well and fed, as always …..

Can anyone dispute this is the nicest stretch of weather we've ever had?

That’s my point completely.  It was 38 this morning, now 62, what can be better.

My ideal spot is elevated valley.  I’m only at 750ft so I’d like to do this same climate but at 1,500ft… like Alex or an SLK.

You want thermal extremes, elevated mountain valley will do it.  Can pop 95F or -40F… but need that surrounding high terrain a couple thousand feet up around you.  1,500ft on its own and you are ranging from like 85F to -10F annually up here.  But throw some walls up around you and the delta grows rapidly.

I love the extremes and then you also have the elevation to snow efficiently when that CAA comes in.

Ya that would be ideal and fun. Great explanation too.

I’m sure there’s been some others in my 56 years of life that have been close, but this certainly has been stellar.  I mean since mid August here(almost 10 weeks) it’s been absolutely ideal.  Certainly nothing to complain about.   But I think we’re all ready for some storminess in the not to distant future.

But I’ll take another few weeks of this to get  us close to thanksgiving, then we can start the storms up some.

Not much elevation when we lived in town at Fort Kent, just some hills 6-700 feet above the flood plain, and in 1979 we had a range of 140°, with -47 on Jan 17 and 93 in both June and July.  Just like at Mt. Tolland, our diurnal ranges dropped significantly after we moved to the back settlement 450' higher than in town.

Dumb CT governor just declared state of emergency in CT due to the critical dry conditions and fires burning

In the very dry October 1963, the NJ governor closed the woods completely, even for anglers fishing from boats.  I suppose some angler driving to a favorite lake might toss a butt out the window.  Late Oct, 80°, near calm - I just knew that the fish would be super hungry on the nearby NNJ lake. :fulltilt:
In his defense, there was a stubborn (only winter rain/snow killed it) 3,000-acre wildfire that month about 3 miles north of the HS.  From some classrooms we could track the hot spots by watching where the smoke was heavy.
