What's the anniversary of the Roctober storm?  One of teh all-timers for GC.  I think Mitch who was living in Mass at the time had the JP with over 30.

I believe it was October 29-30.
15 inches in Greenfield but much more in the hills west of here.

Power was out here for a day or so but south of here 4 days. Greenfield was swamped with people coming up from the south to get gas and groceries etc.

Even more troubling than that map showing the ridiculous dryness since late August, this is definitely something you don’t want to see. The ensembles are developing a huge Bering Sea vortex at the beginning of November. If that’s a sign of things to come, ooof

A little early to make assumptions like that, but it shows at least half of Novie is AN.

I wouldn't be suprised to a nasty hybrid deal in a week or two....October 2021 has that big storm here while I was overseas.

Ensembles continue the dry pattern. Big ridge over the east pretty much locked in next few weeks with brief cooler intervals

Doesn't bother me...I have seen more "if only this were winter" patterns in October end up as "this winter blows" seasons.

Agreed.  Let the vortex go over Alaska in October and November, and keep it mild here.  I’d rather that than in mid/late December, or January.

Unless that vortex locks in all winter like 11/12

That’s always a possibility.  But that was an extreme case.  Hoping that doesn’t happen this go around.  We also had a foot of concrete fall here that destroyed everything that October 2011 too…so that ain’t happening this go around either.  Different year and set up.

Eh....personally, I defenitely would rather not have at there in November because that is late enough where sometimes it sticks....but doesn't have to.

Fortunately, it underperformed here.  Our 4.5" was accompanied by 4 hours w/o power.  Had we gotten the forecast 12-16, it would've rivaled the 101 hours last December, only without the Generac.

Fog, <1/4 mile vis, hanging in there.  Forecast 72 but mid 60s more likely and a PC day after 7 sunny ones in a row.
