Major Fall Festival in Stowe had total collapse of massive tent in the wind overnight.  It looks rough.

Yikes. Any bouncy houses flying through the air?

Leef peepers are going to be wondering where all of the leaves went in NNE.

Wtf happened last night.

Wind came out of no where and it got real warm.

Temps rose to 63F at 4am (normal min 37F) and winds gusting 40-50mph.  Leaves are gone, ha.

46F at 8:30pm, then 63F at 4am in some crazy wind.

Same here the wind is insane this morning.

Sun looks like it comes out tomorrow afternoon. Just can’t get out of Stein’s webbed grip south of pike and west of ORH to PVD

This had 1,000+ people at it yesterday and was expecting to see 5,000 visitors this weekend.  If that came down at full occupancy it would’ve been real bad.

That’s awful, Good thing no one was in there, Winds have slacked off some now but we’re gusting in the 40’s frequently earlier.

Winters following a 6” or more of October snow at ORH have been BN in total snowfall

*edit.  2020-2021 was a good winter

***this is all tongue in cheek.

At the late lamented Farmington co-op (volunteer passed and no one picked up the torch), 32 out of 128 Octobers had measurable snow, some in each decade except the 1980s and the 2 years of the 2020s.  Average snow in those winters was 1.2" AN but since the Oct snow averaged 2.6", the November-May average was 1.4" BN.  Only 3 Octobers had 6"+ (1962, 1965, 2011) and those winters ran +6.6".  Of course, those Octobers averaged 7.2".  All that adds up to not much effect.

Wind is howling, gusts to 40+ which is significant here in the woods.  Went to generator power at 9:25.  Trees around the yard are 90%+ bare and the leaves are nice and dry, perfect for raking.  It may be dumb in this wind, but I'm going to try anyway as the Monday rain and unsettled week may not allow the leaves to re-dry.

Dog has cancer so the prednisone makes him pee all night and I went out at about 5am..the wind was insane and a mist literally blowing sideways. It was intense. Still windy now, but nothing like that. Def a fall crisp out there today. Hoodie weather.

Outside doing work in the yard I heard a tree come down in the woods just the other side of the property line.  Winds are calming down now which will be good as I am doing so painting on a shed today.

The Pineneedles stuck to it will give a nice woodsy textured look.

Still no power here but not quite as windy - G35 instead of 40.  CMP scoped out our short road about 11:15.  The four lodged firs that were tipped on 12/18 remain secure; any one of them would easily reach our power lines if they came loose.  Leaves are piled up and I'm counting on a bit less wind before I move them to their winter home (including some atop 2 rows of carrots for next April - dug the other 2, nice size and form).

The damage to that large tent is wild.

Even saw a street sign on RT 108 pushed to like a 45 degree angle.  Fences blown down.  Might’ve gusted 60+ at some point on the NW downslope off Mansfield into town.
