This was a famous late season snowstorm. The huge snow on May 5th 1992. Was a huge surprise.

Went cross country skiing on the Parkway from the Hwy 276 intersection toward Shining Rock thanks to that event.  They had plowed the Parkway to Pisgah Inn by the time we got up there.  A long time ago but I don't recall seeing any snow in the downtown Asheville area.

This system is going to lack moisture.  We've had this problem all season dealing with the pv dropping down.

Frankly it’s bordering absurd the amount of time between 6”+ synoptic events for all of the mountains.  Let alone for anyone west of 77.  I don’t think a non-flow warning level event, let alone a 2-4” one, region wide once a year in all counties with an average elevation above 1-2k feet is a thing of the past but this cycle we are stuck in is getting ridiculous ha.

I think 2” will be a major win but we’ll see.  I still have a hunch we get a March special this year, teleconnections seem to want to line up for it that first to second week last I saw.

Oh yeah we have the teles and the MJO that is going to be helping out a lot.  You can see on the gfs already that we are in for several possible rounds of snow for the mountains.
