I wish I shared your optimism but the air is super dry. Most of Georgia and Alabama is still virga.

If it makes you feel better, folks with sub 10° dps are seeing snow in SC currently. Webb also discussed yesterday that dry air is less of a factor in these setups since the moisture is typically below the normal snow growth zone.

I remember that one quite well.  A buddy of mine was at App State at the time, he put on all the winter clothes he had and hiked up to the fire tower above Boone.  Took his camera, film camera, and it froze.  Raleigh, NC had its all time low of -9 F during that event.

I was a sophomore at NCSU.   We lost heat in the fraternity house for 2-3 days during that event.   The K-mart on Western Blvd probably sold dozens of space heaters to my fraternity brothers during that period.   Amazing we didn't burn the house down.   I remember watching the Super Bowl with a heavy coat on inside the house.

And I want people to really pause and take a look at the situation down along the Gulf coast. This is absolutely historical for that area. Never have they had a storm like that down there. This is amazing and just being a weather nerd I'm geeking out about this.

You have to go way back to 1895 to find an extreme Event. Lake Charles recorded 2 feet then. Nola 8". That one moved up and got us all involved with quite a bit.
