Well, I will be keeping an eye on the HRRR, other than that, it's radar and surface maps. Won't be long now!

Really thumping in Atlanta. Was not expecting that. Most models had ICE.

Well, safe to say ATL forecast busted on the POSITIVE side.

 

Rain showers, snow showers, freezing rain, and sleet before 4pm, then rain, possibly mixed with freezing rain between 4pm and 5pm, then freezing rain after 5pm. High near 34. Light south wind becoming east 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime ice accumulation of 0.1 to 0.3 of an inch possible. Total daytime snow and sleet accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Still sitting at 23 with virga slowing approaching. Alright, going to stop blowing up the forum for now

Steady at 20 degrees here. Clouds look like snow. I can see the moisture in the upper levels. Won't be long.

Up to 24 degrees here. We’ve had virga for 2 hrs now. I’d expect snow to start around 9 here.

Up to 27 now. Definitely virga overhead and the ceiling is lowering. It appears that light snow is beginning to fall at higher elevations of the Balsams. It shouldn't be long here before light snow begins.

I’m done looking at models for this one. Time to just enjoy the snow! Just 6 hrs ago the hrrr showed a 1/2” for atl. A lot of places down there have 2-3” and still falling. Hopefully that means we can stay all snow and rack up 6” or so.

Ceiling has lowered significantly, light to moderate snow at Cataloochee. Flurries just began at the house.

Waiting really is the hardest part. Seeing folks on the main thread freaking out about the precip differences in the North vs. South/thunderstorms in the gulf doesn't help. Make sure you send the snow our way soon!
