This looks solid from the 00z gfs.prateptype_cat-imp.us_ma.thumb.jpg.448aa8673841f7486ccd8974c724b784.jpg1664021687_prateptype_cat-imp.us_ma(1).thumb.jpg.ce519dd94ff6501e3fbb73545547513c.jpg

Looks like a classic Miller A to me. I think the GFS and Canadian are sniffing this out. Questions will be, the Low track and how much moisture accompanies it. Changes always occur but this looks great for the Mnts. It doesn’t look like a monster but my early guess is there will be some OBS with 6”+ from the system.

Yeah you are right Don. I think a general 4-8 inches will be a good cover and will make a lot of people happy.  We've got cold setting in now, snow on the ground and really leading up this is one of the best setups we've had in a long time.

lol. Love seeing the Asheville snow hole show up on the maps now. Feels like a classic storm now.

Foothills/Leeside are showing lower totals in general. Something to watch for our foothill folks

Shouldn't be a big issue with the storm track. Models can overdo it at times. My biggest concern is gulf convection

Gulf convection is always a concern but will know to what extent till later. I always fear a dry slot but that happen if the slp tends stronger as it exits to our s and se.
the lee side snow hole is a real worry.
But I would like to see what it looks like when we are sitting at Thursday Morning before my Chips are cash!

If I was up in the Mnts. My concern with gulf coast convection would be heightened if this was a monster storm. This one doesn’t seem to support it but you never know. Always a good idea to read up on downstream AFD’s. Below is a snippet of MOB’s overnight disco. These Mets are some of the best I’ve seen with severe weather. Long story short is I don’t see it being an issue for you all.

The surface low
will briefly bring a warm front into the coastal counties before
a cold front follows quickly behind, but no tangible instability
will accompany what will be a rather meager warm sector.

My first Miller A here in the foothills

Not sure of your location and elevation as I don’t follow the board like I used to (congrats on the move from SC!). I think the warm nose may come into play in some of the foothills, that being said I’d bet you get your wish of snowballs & sledding. Grab some popcorn and enjoy the show!!!

Haha! Thanks but I’m still in SC. Now I’m between Seneca and Walhalla. Above 85 and just above hwy 11 sitting right at 1000’-1100’ ft elevation :D

Hey, you're real close by right across the state line. Spend every day I can in the summer fishing down at the Chattooga on either 76 or 28. Generally if we do well over here then your area does as well, although we do have a bit better elevation.

I am! I love going to the bridges at both locations! I do the 28-107 loop around the mts often. There’s some really cool back roads that I can’t go down in my Kia, but I will walk them
