Tyler Penland
Those cells are insane for early February. Yeah this is wild. Textbook supercell in east Tennessee in early February. Thankfully doesn't appear to have touched down from what I have seen, but the storm up towards Morristown had a solid CC ball at one point. Maggie Valley Steve
It's beginning to look like we may have a potential for flooding next week particularly Tuesday through Thursday. Something to keep an eye on.
Met1985
Yeah we got hammered last night and early this morning. Looks like a lot more rainfall coming our way.

Tyler Penland
Northern mountains could have a bit of a mess if the GFS is right. Actually switches part of the area over to snow briefly Wednesday morning. Temperatures are borderline the whole time, though.

Met1985
Not a great look by either model. This could bring big time flooding in many places that don't need it. This will be a big test for the area and for the infrastructure. Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk
Met1985
GSP in my opinion doesn't need to sit on this at the last moment. The word needs to get out now. This isn't the time or place to be conservative with the forecast... 3

Half of the normal bar for flooding will cause problems. 1
Tyler Penland
0z 3KM NAM with a widespread event. Ashe County looks to be in a particularly bad spot this go around.
Met1985
Temperature has fallen off here. At 6pm we were at 61 and currently in sitting at 41.
WeatherHawk
Quiet and eerie...any updates on expected ice totals? Heard someone at the store talking about .75" up to 1.0" of ice in Ashe...been out of the loop a few days with the flu.
wncsnow
I have been driving to Asheville for work for over 5 years and this morning was probably the most foggy I have seen it on Old Fort mountain.
WXNewton
Just did a trend on the Canadian from last night and it clearly shows signs of a deeper wedge with more icing each run.
BooneWX
Went to the NAM expecting to see a warm bias for the next two days but man…if I’m in Ashe, Watauga and Alleghany counties up to Grayson Highlands, I’m making sure the generator is working properly.
Tyler Penland
HRRR actually starts Watauga and ashe off as snow tomorrow morning. Interesting trends this morning. Definitely concerned for the escarpment.
Met1985
Yeah the cold air is trending further south.
Tyler Penland
12z NAM much colder at the surface, HRRR is a little warmer than the NAM but still looks like a significant event along the escarpment.
WXNewton
Can anyone speak on the WRF models and their accuracy? They have a major ICE storm much further south than any other model, do they tend to overdue cold air at the surface and precip?
