Met1985 Posted yesterday at 02:02 AM Share Posted yesterday at 02:02 AM I mean the NAM is brief but with temps in the teens the ratios would be maybe an inch or two....

I had already walked a long way. Some lady's battery died and she needed a jump. I felt like I was literally going to freeze to death out there. I briefly hated her, but I got over it, lol. Ha, I was at NCSU as well. Some friends and I walked down to Reynolds Coliseum to gawk at people camping out for NCSU vs Duke basketball tickets that evening.. Chancellor Bruce Poulton got nervous they would die and later let them camp inside Reynolds.

I think we need one more tick NW before we could score an inch or two. But the way this thing has trended today it may just do it. To bad this didn’t start a day earlier.

Models now will adjust to the ground truth of the precipitation organizing to our West. I wouldn't be surprised to see further changes with the 6Z and 12Z outputs tomorrow morning. It's down to 10 at the house now.

Campout was so much fun. I was at the "last game" in Reynolds when we played FSU. I sat on the sidelines immediately behind David Thompson, Pam V, Norm Sloan, etc. They were in the row directly in front of me and we were the second row behind the bench. I got the poster they gave out for that game signed by everyone. So many great memories.

ncjoaquin
Dropped down to 7.7 last night, easily my lowest of the year. Back up to 11.5. Not sure if we can will that moisture to get through the dry air, but it's closer than it looked like it would be. Edited to add: I have snow flurries showing up in my cameras. They overcame the dry air easily. Usually, it takes forever for the moisture to start falling. Maybe a mini surprise today?
Met1985
NAM looked even better for us tonight and the gfs inched even closure for us. We will see. Current temp and low of 5.

Brick Tamland
Under a winter weather advisory starting at 5 PM. Might actually get an inch of snow out if this. I'll take that as a win with the way things were looking a couple of days ago.

ncjoaquin
I haven't seen one single flurry in the light of day. That must have been snow blowing off my roof in front of the camera. Sorry for the false report.

Current temp is 14 with 60 percent humidity Yep it may be my eyes deceiving me but on the regional radar for the southeast, there’s way more of a northerly component to the precip movement than I would have anticipated. Southern Tenn is starting to see returns. Some of the heavier returns over Alabama are gaining quite a bit of latitude at the moment. There’s a distinct possibility the tap to the gulf has been opened. We may all be in for quite the surprise by sunset.
wncsnow
I wish I shared your optimism but the air is super dry. Most of Georgia and Alabama is still virga.

Met1985
And I want people to really pause and take a look at the situation down along the Gulf coast. This is absolutely historical for that area. Never have they had a storm like that down there. This is amazing and just being a weather nerd I'm geeking out about this. 5
