We should see some light snow along the border and maybe an inch from Buckethead north. Met1985
A big question is the system right around the 20th and the 21st. Obviously, we are several days out, but it's been entertaining to watch. This is what the gfs is spitting out this morning. Interesting and way south and another solution. This would bring a smile to a lot of people's faces. NavarreDon
Several things to consider, a week or so out, synoptics, history, & so on. With all that being said. The 6Z GFS is about as good as it gets for a Mnt paste bomb. If the model holds on to this, look for it to tic north as time goes on. .
BooneWX
Everything about this pattern screams WNC special. I’ve got a good feeling. We’ve taken some absolute hits the past few decades from this exact 500 mb pattern. You could not feasibly draw a prettier setup. 3

Met1985
Another solution for the end of the weekend. Not going to dive into it but a strong signal is there. Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk
Maggie Valley Steve
It looks like the meso models ticked up regarding moisture for our upslope tonight into Wednesday. It was 19 this morning, but has warned up to 40 so far. Driveway is melting off and I'll have it cleared by sun set.

Lots of "local" (Charlotte, Winston/Greensboro) folks won't come up with rain in the forecast. Beech and Sugar are both down about 25% this year from what I've heard despite the great weather. That said, I'll be VERY surprised if we aren't looking at a decent thump next Tue-Thu. If this Sundays low could get going a little quicker it could kick some moisture back as well. Maggie Valley Steve
Day 11 with snow on the ground here and even at the Valley floor with North facing areas. I see that NWS Houston is mentioning snow for Monday, with even the Coastal Counties seeing a wintry mix. One of my longtime Met friends, Chris Hebert comparing the potential similar to the Christmas Eve snow storm of 2004. I'm also intrigued with Friday into Saturday for the Mountains. Hopefully by Friday we'll have an idea what early next week will bring!
Met1985
The gfs really whiffed on the flow snow last night and only got down to 20 degrees. Things still look very interesting and yep still snow on the ground.

Met1985
Still a big question about how the precipitation starts Saturday morning in the mountains. Also the Euro doesn't shoe a big storm but show multiple rounds of snow for us through the run. Lots of signals. Yeah fun and games.
Maggie Valley Steve
If we get the moisture, those very cold temperatures could easily produce 15 to 1 ratios.
Sw NC weather
18z Euro was about to be a beast of a storm for us starting next Tuesday. Rest up, I’d say there’s gonna be a good chance we have a serious threat to chase in the next few days.

Hopefully it’ll trend slightly more NW in the next couple of days. I’ll be honest though I’m ok with where it’s at for now till Saturday or so.
