A big question is the system right around the 20th and the 21st. Obviously, we are several days out, but it's been entertaining to watch. This is what the gfs is spitting out this morning. Interesting and way south and another solution. This would bring a smile to a lot of people's faces.

Several things to consider, a week or so out, synoptics, history, & so on. With all that being said. The 6Z GFS is about as good as it gets for a Mnt paste bomb. If the model holds on to this, look for it to tic north as time goes on.

Everything about this pattern screams WNC special. I’ve got a good feeling. We’ve taken some absolute hits the past few decades from this exact 500 mb pattern. You could not feasibly draw a prettier setup.

It looks like the meso models ticked up regarding moisture for our upslope tonight into Wednesday. It was 19 this morning, but has warned up to 40 so far. Driveway is melting off and I'll have it cleared by sun set.

I feel like yall are going to be in it for a while in the mountains. The next week + look great for systems and NW events.

Just wish it wasn't rain on the last big ski weekend of the year. Awful for local businesses that are already down. Lots of "local" (Charlotte, Winston/Greensboro) folks won't come up with rain in the forecast.

Beech and Sugar are both down about 25% this year from what I've heard despite the great weather.

 

That said, I'll be VERY surprised if we aren't looking at a decent thump next Tue-Thu. If this Sundays low could get going a little quicker it could kick some moisture back as well.
