Sw NC weather
Closing in on 2”. Rates are still great but flake size is way down. Still think there’s a chance I make a run for 4-5”.
WNC_Fort
Jason Boyer just cut his forecast in half. Generally forecasting 1-3 across the area except for favored SW mountain locations.
ncjoaquin
Just can't keep it going. I have bursts of glory, then back to the small flakes.
MountainOctopus
Back to small flakes here, but that heavy band got me to 1.5" or so. Would love to squeeze out a few inches, we shall see, but it's looking beautiful out there with what I've got. Been too long!

BretWx
Biggest flakes of the day! Must mean I am near the boundary. If I can avoid the warm nose, might actually pull off 4IN!
Maggie Valley Steve
Just got in from riding all over Maggie Valley, up toward Soco Gap and Cataloochee. Met1985 and I got to experience everything the past couple of hours to rain/snow, sleet/snow and now huge flakes near silver dollars. Back at the house and I have heavy snow with less than a quarter mile visibility!
franklin NCwx
We have just over 3" with mostly sleet now. Sure was nice to sled and throw snowballs again!

ncjoaquin
So far, NWS was correct and the downsloping held true. I'm looking at .7 inches of snow. I'm not sure I will make it to an inch. Just never could get it going. Maybe there will be a burst later tonight. Otherwise, on to the next one. It looks like maybe there will be other chances. Congrats to all of those that really cashed in. I'm not complaining though. I'm happy to have some chances this winter! Edited to add, my predominant precip has been sleet for a while.
GoAPPS
The Asheville snow hole was well modeled. I had hoped it was overdone, but it kept showing up run after run across all the models. Currently sleeting in West Asheville.

NavarreDon
New Mesoscale Discussion....Here is the long version, sorry for the length!:Mesoscale Discussion 0032NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK0330 PM CST Fri Jan 10 2025Areas affected...northern Georgia...eastern Tennessee...far western South Carolina...western North CarolinaConcerning...Winter mixed precipitationValid 102130Z - 110030ZSUMMARY...Areas of moderate to heavy snowfall along the high terrain and mixed precipitation likely in the afternoon/evening across portions of east TN/north GA and western SC/NC.DISCUSSION...A broad region of heavy precipitation continues to shift northward across northern Alabama into eastern Tennessee/northern Georgia beneath enhanced mid-level flow and forcing from an upper-level trough. This precipitation shield will continue to lift north and eastward this evening, bringing an increase in the precipitation rates across the region, extending into western North Carolina through time. Moderate to heavy snowfall will be possible (with occasional 1" hr rates) across the southern Appalachian Mountains in eastern Tennessee. Further south across northern Georgia into the western Carolinas, profiles will continue to support additional accumulations of freezing rain. NAM/RAP sounding analysis across northern Georgia into South Carolina show a warm nose at 850 mb with surface observations indicating temperatures remain in the upper 20s to 30s. Occasionally, mixed precipitation/sleet will be possible..
