I can't believe how fast the temps dropped here at Beech today.  Went from around 45 or so to the 20s in no time.  The wind is howling up here.  Stay safe everyone!

Been watching that web cam today. What a drop. It 14 now and gust over 25 with snow.

Geez.  Power is flashing on and off now.  Down to 13 degrees.  Wouldn't be too fun to be in the dark very long with these temps.

I will never go without a generator after Helene. I got mine for 1K on amazon black friday and can power my whole place.

4K without power in WNC

the winds are terrible tonight. Mitchell and Buncombe county with over a 1,00 out in each.

Powering flickering here in Rutherford County as I type..

I also assume we will have trees down in the morning. Gusting to over 30 off and on since 4 today.

Yeah the wind is ripping here too. The power grid is still not fully back to normal with all the infrastructure damage. Especially in Yancey and Mitchell

In their defense - after Helene, most utilities now have a backlog of 6+ months of work orders and issues to fix.

I moved here from the NC coast and had a generator there.  I bought a condo up here, so I didn't think I'd have the space or ability to have one if needed.  I do have a kerosene heater, which I got after the storm for these situations, so I might fire it up.

Very strong winds here in North West Watauga, snow pouring sideways. Be safe everyone if you have to go out.

Looking forward to the next system, hoping our friends and colleagues to the south and our piedmont can get a decent thump this winter, looks promising.  :snowing:
