Itstrainingtime
17 hours ago, Bubbler86 said: Mow 18...the final full mow of the year, is in the books. The great fall drought of 2024 has put most of the grass to sleep. The new/good mower is away until next spring. Any mowing or leaf chopping moving forward is done by the old mower aka the yard pig. Only 18 mows...crazy. Just saw this - I'm at 27 and that's down a lot from last year.

Not that it totally matters but current progs depict any rain starting Tue shortly after lunch (in the south part of our region.) Some Mesos's and Globals are not really all that wet so waiting until I see it for myself!

I didn't have to get the older Craftsman to suck up the grass this week after mowing. Rain would be welcome at this point. But you need a few inches of rain to get you back in the mowing game...again.
Mount Joy Snowman
Low of 56. All these cool dewy mornings have really helped the grass hang on, even if it’s not growing much.

With the limited sun it will get going forward I will just be touching up some areas which grow a bit IF it rains. My sugar maple in the back is already about 20% on the ground which will also stop the growth covering the grass. Fall is almost in full swing up in the mountains to my East. About 30% of the trees have some level of change in them already. Peak is going to be early to Mid Oct it seems.
ChescoWx
Another couple of nice late summer days but a bit cooler tomorrow... before we see clouds and shower possibilities increasing from Tuesday through the end of the work week. There is a wide range of model rainfall amounts across the area....hoping some of the more generous models become reality this week. Chester County Records for today: High 95 degrees at Phoenixville (1927) / Low 34 degrees at Phoenixville (1985) / Rain 3.10" at West Grove (1966)

If we had this duration of dry weather in the summer we'd all have burnt lawns.
