Central PA Autumn 2024

Recommended Posts

Many lower spots had yet another freezing low this morning. For example, Warwick Park recorded their 13th such low this autumn season while ridge locations like East Nantmeal have yet to record even one such day. Looking at the forecast going forward some of the higher spots have a good shot at setting new records for the latest in the season to record a first freezing temperature. As has been the case since September....not much to talk about weather wise with continued dry weather for the entire week with our next chance of any showers waiting till Sunday. Warming temperatures through mid-week and then we cool back to closer to normal by the end of the week into next weekend.

MU released his Winter Outlook. A few  notes:

1) Temps will average +2 to +4

2) Well below snowfall (10" to perhaps 20")

3) Best chance of snow and cold should be right around the holidays - "best chance for a white Christmas in years" (our winter might peak between 12/20 and 1/10)

4) Many mild spells with just a couple of cold shots

5) Reduced chances of a major snowstorm

What a bummer of a forecast but seems our new climate is dry as can be and warm. We weren’t moved to the S VA planting zone for nothing.

So he cancelled winter with exception to Christmas. Cool. Can't wait for the 2 AM snow maps that have zero shot at verifying.

Is that for Millersville area or S. PA?

Is there a difference? I suspect the weather in Lancaster county isn't or won't be too dissimilar from anywhere else along the southern tier.

Notable exceptions:

1) Philadelphia metro

2) Mount Davis

3) East Nantmeal Township

Happy Election Day! No weather excuses for not getting out there and voting today across the area! Yet another beautiful day in our new California-like climate!! We warm to the low 70's today and the upper 70's tomorrow. We then start a cooling trend that will last through the weekend. We also look to have our best chances at rain in over a month by later in the weekend...if we do get the rain on Sunday we will see temperatures struggling to escape the 50's for high temperatures.
