MUI is traditionally colder than MDT or CXY.    They are 4-6 degrees higher than forecast right now.   Rgem still the only model that gets the LSV any where near freezing tonight.   HRRR suggests MDT is not even going to get into the 30's.

We shall see - it's 37 here at 10pm.

41 here at 10.  HRRR was 2 too cold for the official stations, except THV,  at their 10PM panel.  It still holds serve that many do not break 35 especially elevation.  Interesting battle with the rgem.   Rgem was 5-7 too cold so far for the MDT and CXY temps.  HGR still at 45!

WU has some colder temps at local therms in valley locales.

Whoot there it is! Whoot there it is!

The 2024 growing season came to end overnight here at the homestead in East Donegal Township. Not only was it my first freezing temp of the season, it was also my first morning in the 20s.

Low overnight was 29.3. Also the first sub-freezing morning officially at MU where the temp dropped to 31.

I'm sorry, I just read that online. I didn't know there was an official designation. I need to read more and post less.

Oh, it is a very varied designation.  MU obviously uses 32 and I think our very own NWS might but officially the USDA says the growing season is not 100% directly related to the air temp vs. ground temp. Since people do not routinely have ground measurement capability, the first hard frost is what they use and they estimate it to 28. I certainly would not trust my plants to always survive if it got to 29 but I would still water them assuming they made it.  But when someone gets to 27 I think that ends the discussion!

comparing the 2 PSU quarterbacks is comparing apples to Oranges. Both have different skill sets. Allar is the typical Pro style. I personally think he is having a great year. And he is definitly the leader of the team. Look at his actions after being injured

Thank you. I was starting to wonder if I was watching what everyone else has been.

As has been the case many times this month...many locations below 500 feet ASL saw freezing temperatures this morning. While most spots above 550 feet fell to no lower than the mid to upper 30's. The lowest temp I found was the 26.7 at Warwick and the warmest was 44.5 at West Grove. Today begins a warming trend that will take us through Halloween. We should peak in the upper 70's on Thursday before falling back to closer to normal levels to start November.
