KChuck
1 hour ago, GaWx said: No: https://kamala.cod.edu/nc/latest.wgus62.KRAH.html I wish that I could have put that in a sarcastic font. That link is for a flood watch and mentions locations in the triad but not the triad itself in the write up. The DISCOS usually focus on the triangle, coastal plain and sandhills areas in detail and occasionally the northeast piedmont, stating precipitation expectations and what not. Lately, they have totally ignored the mention of the triad in the discos. Why is that important to me? Because the triad is in its own weather environment and will have results and impacts separate from the others. When we are not mentioned, you have to interpolate what to expect based on what's written for other nearby weather stations adjusted by your personal experiences. We were adequately addressed when there was an active GSO weather station. Since that was dissolved in a budget cutting move, I have to interpolate between Roanoke, Greenville, and Raleigh station discos to guess what to expect here in the Kernersville area when Raleigh doesn't specifically mention the Triad. Same for radar coverage when it comes to storms based on the direction the storm is coming from. Kville is on the fringe of each of these radars so severe storms can get tricky. That's why I'm a participant in the storm watch program and attend local classes whenever they are available. The storm watchers are the eyes on that bottom 7-10k feet of atmosphere in the triad the NWS radars cannot see due to curvature of the earth. I also glean what I can from the more advanced amateurs like yourself (greatly appreciative of your work and input!!!) on these forums in an attempt to learn more about the weather.
NorthHillsWx
Fall is in the air. Almost chilly with the blustery winds this morning. We picked up 0.08” from a shower yesterday
yotaman
Windy and rainy here this am. Winds in the 10 to 20 mph range. Maybe a few higher gusts but nothing serious yet. Hopefully it stays that way.
NorthHillsWx
Very strong winds in Wilmington area. Lots of 60+ mph gusts in that heavy convection. I’d expect some fairly widespread outages in that area
NorthHillsWx
Steady moderate rain. Temps staying between 64-66 all day. 0.55” in the bucket so far. Wind not as gusty as earlier but a raw feel nonetheless for September. Nothing tropical about this system that’s for sure!

olafminesaw
I-85 is lava. Seems mid-level dry air should keep rain totals in check for the triad. The HRRR depicts this well, with around .5" and 1-2" just to our south.
Fantom X
So not much of a storm here in Salisbury as of 6pm. 0.48" so far - the only notable is how chilly it is - hovering around 61-62 all day.
NorthHillsWx
Finally getting into heavier rainfall rates here now but doubt it will matter from flood perspective. Been moderate most of day. 1.15” and going up. Still 64 degrees. Been unbelievably chilly for September with the gusty NE wind. Wish this was January sheesh
yotaman
We are up to 1.94" so far today. Been in the low 70's all day.
NorthHillsWx
Up to 2.44” here. Maybe a little more to go. 8.29” MTD. Temp has warmed to 73 degrees overnight. Really shows the front that was still attached to our LP system
NorthHillsWx
While not impressive on radar, the showers this morning are extremely efficient rainfall producers. Lots of wrecks on my way to work in garner this morning
gman
We have gotten 1.25” so far, when only a couple of days ago, there was no rain in the forecast for at least 10 days. Beautiful!
yotaman
We totaled out at 3.09" for the storm. Pretty impressive for us and right on the money as the prediction was 2-4".
NorthHillsWx
I Definitely underestimated the rain today. 3.34” storm total. Though slightly above the 1-3” forecast it was within the higher amounts up to 6” range. And we were out of the higher amounts just south of here. Overall, I’d say a slight overachiever in central NC

NorthHillsWx
Over .60” and raining this morning. This brings out total MTD well over 10”. For central and eastern NC it’s fortunate the majority of this hurricanes rains will fall over the western half of the state as we are fully saturated and waterlogged at this point EDIT: finished with 1.04” here which brings our MTD to an incredible 10.93” with more on the way this week! Cannot imagine a hurricane hitting central NC directly with this kind of saturated ground

I recall you were one of the worst hit by the flash drought back in June. Weather is fickle.
