The thing is we keep moving the goalposts every 10 years with the normals changing. The normal CON September with the 1961-1990 normals was 58.8°. It’s now 61.0°. 

So they’re running +0.2° so far this month, but that would’ve been a +2.4° in the 1990s.

Correct so if it happens to be near normal, that's still much warmer than a decade ago.
