Did sneak in one more 90-degree day earlier before the clouds rolled in. That's it on the 90s for the year.

KIND is along that same number. IMBY only 0.02". Not quite killing it but at least things are very temporarily damp.

Looking like a pretty dreary stretch incoming through the week. Gonna be ugly.

Chilly morning with temps running in the upper 20's-mid 30's across the area., with 40's closer to the Lake. Milder temps coming up mid week for a few days. No rain either. 0.06" for the month so far (3.53" Sept avg), and no rain till the end of the month would make this a record for TH. 0.26" in 1948 is the current record.

Dayton has had 25 days of 90F or better temperatures this year. At the airport site, only 19 years [in 90 years of records] had more. Not a bad number. Would only be expected to be exceeded in about 1 of every 4 to 5 years based on historical records.

No doubt being situated at 1,000+ feet helps keep these down. The 49 observed at Hamilton (Butler County) [elevation: 600 feet] is probably more representative of the conditions in the city of Dayton and the Miami River valley.

Things ended on a high note this weekend, with the last hot/summer-like day of the year...

Topped out at 92° at ORD and at 93° MDW on Saturday.

...2024 90°+ Day Tally...
25 - MDW
23 - ORD
19 - ARR
19 - LOT
18 - RFD
18 - PWK
17 - DPA
10 - UGN

Didn't there used to be quite a disparity between MDW and ORD? They were pretty close to each other this year. Also, didn't RFD tend to run warm?

MDW does usually win the race against ORD, but there is some variability from year to year...

2024: +2 MDW
2023: +2 ORD
2022: +12 MDW
2021: +8 MDW
2020: +6 ORD
2019: +4 MDW
2018: +3 MDW
2017: Even
2016: +9 MDW
2015: +8 MDW
2014: +5 MDW
2013: +4 MDW
2012: +5 ORD
2011: +5 MDW
2010: +1 MDW

Event total that past 3 days = 0.17".  Might get a couple hundredth tonight but nothing more based on radar.  Local bust for me but many areas did much better.

September total = 0.31".  Each model run seems to be trending drier and keeping this tropical system just south of here.   Hoping it changes as I know the model do like to change but not counting on it. :yikes:

September may have been my best summer month of 2024 with countless sunny warm days.  :sun: Of course I was only home maybe 4 weeks total all of June, July and August.

It appears Cedar Rapids will officially end up with a trace of rain in September.  Models show nothing until at least mid October.

Misery loves company!!   Unfortunately, even the 0.31" I got was so spread out it didn't help with dry conditions at all.   October is looking to start off mild and dry here too.
