Some homes near the mountain are in danger, I don’t think any have been directly affected yet though. It laid down in the valley on the other side of the tunnel which made it look like a foggy day. Saw the smoke as far south as Quakertown exit. For example, Warwick Park recorded their 13th such low this autumn season while ridge locations like East Nantmeal have yet to record even one such day. Looking at the forecast going forward some of the higher spots have a good shot at setting new records for the latest in the season to record a first freezing temperature. As has been the case since September....not much to talk about weather wise with continued dry weather for the entire week with our next chance of any showers waiting till Sunday. The pattern we are in isn't going to give us much rain, much less a snowstorm, in November. We're staying torch and mostly dry for the rest of the month. I do agree on a pattern in change in early December. I think the snow event happens around December 4-5, and arctic air invades after that. ChescoWx Posted November 5 Share Posted November 5 Happy Election Day! No weather excuses for not getting out there and voting today across the area! Yet another beautiful day in our new California-like climate!! We warm to the low 70's today and the upper 70's tomorrow. We then start a cooling trend that will last through the weekend. We also look to have our best chances at rain in over a month by later in the weekend...if we do get the rain on Sunday we will see temperatures struggling to escape the 50's for high temperatures. I know there are wildfires going on around here, but I watched the Chiefs game last night, and there was fog in KC (and that may have possibly moved east overnight). For Mike Gortz this township alert notice should be incoporated into the MT Holly discusssions on how dry it really is: The township will no longer pickup leaves? Why, the chance of dust fires with the equipment. Folks, it is bad and I was not kidding about why I have been harping about a pretty serious drought the last six months for our area. I saw in the LR weather patterns back in the early 70's when I was kid being taught by my retired uncle who was the Regional western meteorologist director for NOAA in Boise Idaho as he explained these typical weather pattern setups for the eastern US. He allowed me to see the computer runs from Maryland back then of the AVN and MRF. Yes, I have been around. I also used the AVN and or MRF while I was an air traffic controller in the Navy all the time. Back then, they were used as guidance with observed data not as religiously as they are now for forecasting as they are today with the EURO and GFS. From Lower Macungie Township Alert Sent On: 11/05/2024 11:12:47 AM EST Due to the extreme dry conditions, leaf collection is severely impacted this year in regards to the level of timely service we are able to provide and the dust it is creating. We turn a bit cooler but still a little above normal as we move toward the weekend. We also should see our best chance of widespread showers in a long time come later in the weekend. ChescoWx Posted November 7 Share Posted November 7 We should be at least 6 degrees cooler than yesterday and will see the cooling trend last through the weekend. We could see some frost again by Sunday morning. Seasonably cool temperatures in the 50's by Saturday. We also have our best chance of rain since late September by Sunday afternoon into the night. ChescoWx Posted November 8 Share Posted November 8 We cool down over the weekend to near to below normal temperatures. A freeze is possible by Sunday AM. Some higher spots who have yet to see a freeze have a slight chance at that time. Showers look to arrive by Sunday evening with a general 0.50" of much needed rain possible.
