URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED
   Tornado Watch Number 615
   NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   635 PM EDT Thu Aug 8 2024

   The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

   * Tornado Watch for portions of 
     District Of Columbia
     Maryland
     Eastern North Carolina
     Central and eastern Virginia
     The eastern West Virginia Panhandle
     Coastal Waters

   * Effective this Thursday night and Friday morning from 635 PM
     until 700 AM EDT.

   * Primary threats include...
     A few tornadoes possible

   SUMMARY...Convective bands with embedded supercells and the
   potential for a few tornadoes will persist overnight and spread
   northward from North Carolina into Virginia/Maryland with the
   remnants of tropical cyclone Debby.

   The tornado watch area is approximately along and 70 statute miles
   east and west of a line from 30 miles east northeast of Martinsburg
   WV to 35 miles east of Goldsboro NC. For a complete depiction of the

   PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

   REMEMBER...A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for
   tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch
   area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for
   threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements
   and possible warnings.

The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a

* Tornado Warning for...
  Southwestern Caroline County in north central Virginia...
  North central Hanover County in central Virginia...

* Until 730 PM EDT.

* At 646 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
  was located near Kings Dominion, or 9 miles north of Randolph Macon
  College, moving northwest at 35 mph.

  HAZARD...Tornado.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

  IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
           shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
           Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur.  Tree
           damage is likely.

* This dangerous storm will be near...
  Ladysmith around 655 PM EDT.

Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include
Chilesburg, Golansville, Beaverdam, Oliver, Burruss Corner, Nancy
Wrights Corner, Cedar Fork, Hewlett, Doswell, and Ruther Glen.

I've been concerned about that all day.  Maybe the low getting closer will change that.  But I've got only drizzle now with this line having made it here.

Sorry man. We will get plenty tomorrow. I got lucky with a band pretty much training over me all day. Such is the game with tropical's.

  was located near Bowling Green, moving northwest at 25 mph.

  HAZARD...Tornado.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

  IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
           shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
           Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur.  Tree
           damage is likely.

* This dangerous storm will be near...
  Bowling Green and Fort Walker around 710 PM EDT.

Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include
Rappahannock Academy, Corbin, and Villboro.

At 716 PM EDT, a confirmed tornado was located over Pike Creek, or 
near Newark, moving north at 15 mph.

This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. TAKE COVER NOW!

HAZARD...Damaging tornado.

SOURCE...Law enforcement confirmed tornado.
