If you were on AA 1788 from PHX to TPA, I want to interview you! Wife flew out of Ft Myers late today. Very bumpy ride.

BooneWX
The eye is almost closed. Maybe 75% of the way there at the moment. It definitely seems like it’s stopped ingesting dry air and may be close to sealing the core off. Impressive velocities appearing on radar in the primitive eye wall. Velocities over 100 mph showing up. With pressure fall’s continuing the wind will catch up. I still think 85 kts is attainable as the ceiling. Still battling residual dry air, two storms in a row we’ve been fortunate with on that regard

beanskip
Looks like there are going to be a lot of relieved people in Tallahassee tomorrow (including me). The sharp cut off of precip on the storm's west site and some subtle trending east with models and track could make this a minor event with an inch or so of rain and some modest winds. Unfortunately, another tough hit for Taylor and Dixie counties.

NorthHillsWx
FL winds over 90 kts corroborated the radar velocities showing >85 kts in the same band. SFMR values up to 65 kts. I believe we have a hurricane

NorthHillsWx
Cedar key is taking it on the chin with that very strong eastern band. Those are probably the strongest winds in the entire system

That is not how RI is supposed to happen. Dry air and running into shallower waters is my guess as to why.
