Wasn’t trying to pick on you there Dave, but I feel like whenever we mention how hot it was and the amount of tarmac 90s we get people from GC saying “not here.” I only hit 90 a few times too, but if CON is getting record 90+ streaks then I’m getting record 87+ streaks. And I know you know this…I’m just putting out there for the weenies that think GC is somewhat immune of the insane departures because it only hits 88° everyday instead of 94°.

A little smidge of sarcasm in that, too but yeah ... there's been pattern misfortune, unrelenting, just as much.

The thing that's sort of frustrating about this last decade since 2015 is that we really can't blame any subjective, or objectively poor winter performances entirely on CC - not that anyone is or has, just sayn'.    It's perhaps academic to say but sometimes it needs to be stated: there's winters available on this planet down to 40 N.

Yes and that is the part I am most hopefully about changing this season. I don't expect the hemisphere to be much different.

You'd have to know what the exponential value is to be precise.   Than you can take the root ( determine )... like, maybe if it's the exponential increase goes by the square, than you take the square root of 8.

something like day 2.8 or so.  that point in time should stop the momentum.   seems intuitive.  heh, at least you're not giving the interviewer dead air, gaped mouth and vacant stair for an answer

Easier than you think, if it doubles everyday you’d have to cut it by the end of day 7. Up until that point it looks like a manageable problem- until all of a sudden it’s not. Same thing with cc…again just imho and don’t want to derail things.

Microsites.  We're in the woods so transpiration modifies the heat (while boosting dews).  Although I've cut some trees from near the house over the 26+ years here, the forest has become taller and thicker.  As a result, 85° is our "90" here and we average a bit over 7 days/year at 85+.  We've reached 90+ 20 times and 14 came in our first 8 summers here, only 6 in the next 19 (all 2017 on) and all 6 came in May or June.  Once the leaves are fully operational, reaching 90 becomes very difficult; 2002 was the most recent year we've done it after June 28.

Ha, back in the days when Pete would hit 89F at 1400ft and say it’s been “cool” while the departures were the same +8 as everywhere else.

I get it.   I crave big heat (with lower humidity) like we sometimes get.  June satisfied that but it is very rare to hit 90 3 days in a row here.
2022 was a great summer for dry(ish) heat here.

I feel like we had plenty of 90s since then.

Yeah, I haven’t gone back and checked but I feel like they were scattered and no heat waves since then.
Either way, it was definitely uncomfortably humid with lots of mid to upper 80s.

August 2002 here for dry heat - note the modest minima, especially for August heat.  Unfortunately, our Subaru Loyale with 204k miles chose that month to have its AC die.

We had sun where I was further up. Was actually quite warm. Kids in water.

Can’t believe it..just got back from a nice walk in the woods and for the first time in weeks I barely ran into any of those dreaded flies or mosquitoes. I’m sure tomorrow will be radically different with the airmass changing but that is a true and much appreciated anomaly around these parts! It’ll be great when the sun makes a comeback too, it’s been so damn dreary the last few days.

How did you like the show? I wish the smashing pumpkins had come on later. Always tough to be an opener in the daylight of a night show.

Yeah.  I also thought Corgan’s singing wasn’t so great. That new guitarist was the shit.
the wrestling thing was odd.

Would love to see them on their own.
Rancid was great.    Green Day impressed me.

I thought Billy Corrigan was pretty good but weirdly I've never seen them live before. I definitely want to see them by themselves in a smaller venue. Green Day is always good. Wife loved it and they certainly put on a show but there's only so much you can do with Green Day music. Fenway is one of my least favorite venues.
