It’s been so beautiful here most of the day but all of the sudden the sky is starting to dim a little and I strongly suspect we’re getting some influence from the wildfires burning in Canada. It almost reminds me of that solar eclipse we had last April but obviously nowhere near as drastic. One of my relatives actually sent me this cool shot from scituate this morning near the harbor. I’m pretty sure there’s some smoke mixed in the background with the sunrise. Either way, pretty interesting to see.

You need to get a pic of one lol. Dragonflies? I don’t think you guys get cicadas?

No they are actually smaller… like house fly size.  We bailed on the dog walk.  They looked like flying ants, that type of body.

Some were bigger than others though which was odd.  Like twice as big.

I've only killed one nest. It was pretty well stocked though.

Something happened, maybe the flooding screwed up underground nesting? :D  Late-bloomer year?  Excessive dragonflies (which I have seen outside of the viral) eating too many prey? :D

Those are actually pretty good theories. Although I doubt the late blooming year.  Life cycles are hard to change. I'm sure you'll see plenty on the rim of your beer can come September.

You know what has disappeared the last 2-3 summers. Wasps and white faced hornets. They used to be everywhere. Now they have become extinct around these parts. Literally just vanished

It's the cold August.
