So with 1.5" today, my weekly total going back to last Friday (8/2) is right around 7.5", talk about a substantial dent to the drier pattern.

Definitely looking forward to a drying out period with some sun again.  Grass has made a major comeback and is as green as ever this year.

Over 7 inches since the start of the month. Thank you @bluewave

Yeah, 8.62” at the Bronx Mesonet. This summer has fit the pattern so far of the best heat coming before the heavy rains. Almost like a local version of a monsoon climate with the warmest part of the year ahead of the arrival of the monsoon. The main question now is how much heat will be able to return by later in the month into early September. While we haven’t had any 100° heat post August 20th since 1993, we usually have around 6 days reaching 90° at Newark after August 20th in the last decade.

75 / 67 and the start of what should be a mainly rain free, sunny and near normal 5 - 6 days.  Heat remains out west with trough into the east and Atlantic ridge wanes back.  Tropics (Ernesto) into the Atlantic during the period and expected to ride near the NE coast.  warmer by the 17th and western heat pushes north then east beyond there.

3.00 from the 5 days of Debbie and her minions....5.11 for the month of August

lawns here are weedy and moderately green in general but the treated lawns are still suffering a bit from the June/July still with alot of brown batches caused by disease and heat stress

will sunday be a beach day or is it going to be one of those days where they say mostly sunny but it ends up mostly cloudy

today, monday and Thu looks like the sunniest, clearest days.  But still looks partly cloudy tomorrow.  May get those 12pm high clouds that clear by 3/4

we can easily get into the 90s late August and early September...maybe not with the humidity but recent years have had alot of these hot days

We also don't need temperatures in the 90s to achieve dews in the 70s. It can be in the 80s or 70s with just the same under tropical/WAR influence, which can run us into October. Subjectively, I like the variability with patterns vs. being locked in for weeks of dry/seasonable or hot/humid. Otherwise, there tends to be depreciation with many weather enthusiasts involving the same 'ol, whatever that may be - this ain't L.A. Averages are the measures of extremes, and there's value in that at our lat/lon.
