Other sources of Data similar to PRISM

PRISM is a project that provides files for monthly temperature and precipitation at a given point, however it's limited to the U.S., Western Canada, a few other select regions. Anyone know of a similar source of data that contains more regions or covers the entire world?

For Europe, I found a dataset called E-OBS. It’s in NetCDF4 though, but hope that helps.  I don’t know if there would be an obs dataset for the whole world, as I assume data is collected differently across the world.

There is of course reanalysis data too, but that’s more of a blended product with models and not pure obs.
