Looks like 1-2" with lollies up to 3" across the DC area, up your way, and across PG and AA. I'll take that run too. I'm just happy to I've had some interesting weather finally.

Congrats on the rain rich getting richer.  It'll take me to the end of Sept to accumulate that much

Huh ? A flood watch ? No way somebody in Sterling must be drinking on the job ... Don't they realize northern Waynesboro is the 2nd driest locale east of the Mississippi ?  Approaching 70 days now since May 18th with well under 2 inches total precip... Only 0.58 for July... willing to bet nothing really changes this evening...

And your area had that training storm last week also, right?

I haven’t gotten a flush hit since late June. Still less than 1” for the month. Looking at the CoCoRaHS month-to-date precip in the area really highlights how variable it can be over a really short distance. Differences of 3” or more in the same county.

Yeah did have that storm too.

Well, before the past several days, I'd tend to agree with you. Except we got a decent 45 min steady/light rain this past weekend...and those thunderstorms last evening that I predicted wouldn't hold together traversing the Apps...DID hold together, and we got about another hour last night of steady/light rain just before midnight. Much needed, though we still have a LOT of brown lawns and stressed trees in the neighborhood.

Things in SW VA look interesting right now...and headed, generally, in the direction of the DMV. Currently 86/61 IMBY.

Can already see the tendency on radar, a training kind of line forming from Lexington to Afton - with basically nothing 2 miles to the NW of that...

It's a disaster there, Im not at home - at work in Charlottesville and of course its a deluge but I'm sure there is nothing in the gauge at home... radar this summer when it shows yellows in other areas it's a downpour but when reds pass over my area it's a few hundredths....

I’m ready for some giant tropical remnant with a massive rain shield. Sick and tired of watching little cells form and dissipate.

I think it was October 2005 when we had some remnants get caught in a front and ended up with 5 consecutive 6-hourly periods with 1”+ of rain.  That’s the soaker we deserve.

This!  It's the only way my micro-desert gets any real rain before the 6-month wet period of 40s/50s and rain starts in November.  I hope we get a big one that turns Germantown's roads into rivers and washes all the tumbleweeds and gila monsters away
