Another round of relatively heavy rain rolling through here now. We've been fortunate to be in the line of these storms this afternoon/evening

I'm getting nailed pretty good with heavy beneficial rain. The lightning and thunder has been pretty fun too. Best storm of the season here. It's just a steady pouring rain woohooo!

The classic gap has opened in the line and is approaching. I don’t have confidence it will fill in before reaching me knowing my luck.

"Heavy rain" wording in forecast and I got a big 0.15.  Total for July just 0.80 and there is no chance for any more rain for a long time

Storms were basically just thunder but we got a whole bunch of rain so I'm happy with it.  Drought is def back under control for a while.

Kind of easily too. We had some favorable index patterns, but imagine if we had a trough dig into the West or Midwest..

4 in a row for DCA.  Gotta go back to 1930 to find  that.  I think 1930 had a higher 4 day average but otherwise it’s this.

So other illuminated folks ; how does this fit in with 2010,11,12 ?  

I was a 1980 hugger until the torrid terrible trio 2010-2012

Perhaps?  especially given the moderating conditions of the river (on both sides), unless the river was frozen I guess.  It just seems it is very hard for DCA to hit 100F given the prevalent south wind in the summer, vs the more W to NW flow in the winter (which would probably lessen the effects of the river).  Either way, streaks of sub 20 highs or 100+ highs are not terribly common at that location.

I wasn’t tracking yesterday’s storms because I was busy preparing for a job interview. 

So I just checked and saw that I got 0.52” imby. Not bad.

Nice and damp out there. Nature seems less stressed. I received .50 yesterday and .20 on Tuesday. Thankfully the extreme heat is over for now. Probably won't be back until October.

In my mind the humidity of 2011 still makes that one the king.
