coolio
Loving this weather. Got a new A/C 1 or 2 years ago. Keeping up really well with these high humid days. No afternoon thunderstorm threats. Taking my walks when the sun goes down. Eating ice cream outside...

Looking back at the climatological data, this is going to end up high on the list of average temperature over 7 days. mdhokie
Been comIng to the beach for many years but never experienced fog like this during the day. Is it because of the cool ocean water and hot temps over land? At times it has been super thick i cant even see the ocean from our oceanfront balcony.

RDM
Still 78 with a 75dp at 1am. When I got home from work I watered some plants and young cherry trees. The ground is so hard it took a while for the water to soak in. Dragging 400' of 3/4" garden hose around the yard was not much fun in the early evening heat.

stormy
I have recorded 9 days since June 1 of 90 or above. The 1930's were hotter as 1934 had witnessed 15 days of 90 or above on July 9 and 1936 had witnessed 13 days of 90 or above at Staunton by July 9. dailylurker
I did a 4 mile hike last evening in a mature forest. It amazed me how stressed the native plants and scrubs are. Even some larger trees like dog woods were wilted. Streams aren't running and the forest sounded unusually silent. Looks like extreme heat and drought is the theme of this summer.

Mostly not since then but this year standing out Exactly. 2010 had the crazy number of 90s, 2011 had the stretch I listed including obscene humidity ("sweat ceiling"), and 2012 had the really big-ticket heat (104 and 105 at DCA). Since then, it has really only been 2016 that went big. 34 minutes ago, stormy said: I have recorded 9 days since June 1 of 90 or above. Yeah, the slow start to the summer 90s means that this year won't challenge those types of records. I'm curious whether the Staunton data shows the same as DC, where '34 and '36 had hot daytime highs, but the lows were more "reasonable" on those days. Likely some combination of dry conditions and the lack of UHI.
