ChescoWx
Some spots picked up a little rain last night and overnight. Here in East Nantmeal we picked 0.17" since last evening. Some additional showers are possible this afternoon but our best chances of rain are tomorrow night with the cold frontal passage. Temperatures today will remain below normal in the low to mid-70's. We warm to near normal both Saturday and Sunday before a sharp turn to below normal temps by Labor Day. Many of the lower spots will see low temperatures again in the 40's by Tuesday AM. High Temps for the first week of September will remain in the low to mid 70's. Chester County Records for today: High Temperature 102 degrees at Phoenixville (1953) of note both Coatesville and West Chester also both exceeded 100 degrees to close out the last 2 days of August 1953/ Low Temperature was a chilly 34 degrees at Phoenixville (1986) / Rain 5.04" at Kennett Square (1911)

ChescoWx
Near normal temperatures both today and tomorrow before a sharp turn to well below normal temps for the 1st week of September. Best chances for rain will be late tonight with the cold front with a lesser chance tomorrow with the secondary reinforcing front. Chester County Records for today: High 103 degrees at Phoenixville (1953) / Low 37 degrees at Phoenixville (1986) / Rain 4.37" at West Chester (1911)

ChescoWx
As today is the last day of the final full summer month it appears like we will fail to see any of the Chester County stations touch the 100 degree mark for the for the 5th straight summer. Our last 100 degree day temperature was at Phoenixville (big surprise) on July 21, 2019. The next highest temperature that day was the 95.6 at West Bradford Twp. This is the longest stretch between a century reading since the 5 years between 1996 through 2000. The longest non-100 degree stretch was the 9 straight summers between 1902 through 1910. Albedoman
Drought guy is pissed off. That meso area out near Somerset just sat there all day is finally moving south. Everything to the north just dried up- a few sprinkles here. That was our last chance of decent rain until 9/12-15 time frame like I emphasized in an earlier post. Folks, the cooler weather drought conditions will not help in reseeding the scorched lawn from all of our 90+ degree days and it will yellow by the end of the week. Stream levels are going to drop quickly now. More sinkholes coming too our area as the water table falls quickly. What to expect this week? Field corn and soybeans will dry up quickly almost overnight. Early harvesting of the corn and soybean fields is expected this year. Pumpkins will be much smaller this year and the fall leaves will turn just turn brown and yellow unless we get a sharp cold front with some moisture come through-- do not see that coming anytime soon. The air will be crisp and cooler on Monday with good sleeping weather for the rest of the week but we really need a tropical storm event up here. Hurricane Francine is aiming for the 12-15th in our general area but the current models say it will go straight up to Canada through the Ohio Valley.
