This morning was the coldest August morning here in East Nantmeal in over 10 years with our morning low of 51.7. This was the coldest reading since the 51.5 on August 15, 2014. Quite a few of the lower elevation spots reached the 40's with the lowest being the 45.8 at Warwick Township. We should see the higher spots again remaining in the unseasonably chilly 60's for highs today before we start a warming trend tomorrow through the weekend.
Chester County Records for today: High 102 degrees at Sadsburyville (1916) / Low 41 degrees at Phoenixville (1949) / Rain 2.73" at West Grove (1933)

Low last night was 55f

Actually, it was cooler Tuesday night into Wednesday morning at 52f.

As we head into the weekend, I think we see the models pick up on tropical activity begin to ramp up.

Yeah only 50.5F low  what capped the atmosphere?

14 of our last 16 days have featured below normal temperatures. Temps today will still be a little below normal (low 80's) levels. Tomorrow we warm to near normal and then above normal readings starting on Sunday. Our next chance of rain looks to be later Monday.

56.4 for the overnight low. Our stretch of great weather looks to continue with a slow warming trend. In fact for some of the lower elevation spots by Wednesday we could touch 90 degrees. But any heat looks short lived as we fall back to more normal temperature levels to close out the new work week. Our only slight chance of rain looks to be Monday evening.
Chester County Records for today: High 101 degrees at Phoenixville (1943) / Low 41 degrees also at Phoenixville (1973) / Rain 3.78" at West Grove (1933) from the remnants of The Chesapeake–Potomac hurricane.

It appears that August will finish as the first below normal temperature month of the year (current estimate is 0.6 degrees below normal) and our first since last November when we were 1.2 degrees colder than normal. However, we do have an above normal temperature final week of August on the way with the warmest day being Wednesday when some spots may reach the 90's. If this happens this could well be the final 90 plus day of the year for some locations. Only a slight chance of a shower Monday evening otherwise continued dry.
Chester County Records for today: High 101 degrees at Phoenixville (1943) / Low 40 degrees at Coatesvile 1SW (1927) / Rain 3.29" at West Chester (1905)

Yesterday made it 17 of the last 19 days with below normal temperatures for August. We turn that around starting today through Wednesday before we fall back below normal to close out the month next weekend. Slight rain chances Wednesday night through Thursday.

How was yesterday below normal? I had 87F and perusing local wunderground sensors I am seeing them in the 85-90F range for highs because yesterday was a HOT day lol

And you thought the drought guy was basking in the downpours somewhere?  LOL Yards getting crispy again. Just when the grass starting greening again too. Tomatoes are done.  Creek levels are stable for now but they will be dropping pretty quickly in the next week without significant rains. Sinkholes popping up in Northampton County along Rt 33- indicating dropping groundwater tables.  Wheres the dam tropical storms?  The GOM is shut off again.

Early dismissal for Philly schools due to the heat. It’s becoming an annual ritual.

When I was growing up, we never began school before Labor Day. Maybe the Philly school district will one day realize August is a summer month.

My guess is that the high school football season for Philly started this past weekend, so the schools have to be session.
