We finished June across Chester County with the warmest average temp 72.6 since the 73.8 average temp in June 2010. The warmest spot was of course Phoenixville at 75.2 degrees and the coolest was the 70.6 degrees at Warwick Township. All stations (16) finished with an average temperature of 73 degrees or lower with the exceptions of Phoenixville and KOQN West Chester Airport (74.5). The wettest station during June was Nottingham with 6.89" of rain -the location with the least rain was KOQN with only 1.84" Our average temperature across the county through the 1st 6 months of the year 51.1 degrees is the warmest first half of the year since the 51.6 degree average back in 2012. Overall this was the 15th warmest June on record....following last year's 8th chilliest June of record.

and 95 mph.

...Millersburg Downburst...

Fatalities: 0
Injuries: 0

Start Date: June 29, 2024

End Time: 5:42PM EDT
End Location: Millersburg /Dauphin County/ PA
End Lat/Lon: 40.54562 / -76.90943

Survey Summary:
A line of severe thunderstorms began to produce wind damage in the
town of Millersburg at the Millersburg Area High School, located
just off North Street. A press box structure located above and just
behind a set of metal bleachers adjacent to the school`s athletic
field was blown off its supporting metal beams/foundation and
largely destroyed. A small ticket office on the other side of the
field was blown off its unsecured cement foundation pad and was
heavily damaged when it impacted a long length of bleachers next to
the field.

The line then continued eastward and produced sporadic wind
damage within several residential areas across Millersburg along
and East of Route 25. The damage consisted mostly of downed large
branches, as well as a few snapped and/or uprooted softwood and
hardwood trees.

The last observed area of storm damage in Millersburg was near
Landfill Road, where a few more more trees were snapped, or had
significant limb damage. The storm appeared to weaken farther to
the east, as no more damage points were observed.

We would like to thank the Dauphin County Emergency Management
Agency, Upper Paxton Township Fire/EOC officials, the local area
Skywarn Spotter and HAM Operator networks for their assistance.
We`d also like to thank members of the public who reported storm
related impacts.

NOTE:
The information in this statement is preliminary and subject to
change pending final review of the event and publication in NWS
Storm Data.

After a well below average temperature day to start July we should see a couple close to normal early July days....before the weather turns a bit unsettled as we head into the 4th holiday period.
A lot of our records for today were set on a very hot day in 1901. Highs across the County were Coatesville 103 degrees / Kennett Square-Phoenixville and Westtown at 101 degrees and West Chester at 100 degrees.
Other records for today across the County: Low temp 45 degrees at Devault (1988) / Rain 4.53" at Nottingham (2022)

55.6F this morning. We just got back from Bar Harbor, ME. Delighted that the cool weather followed us.

If you have not been to Bar Harbor, it is a “bucket list” type of place to visit.

.

It’s a great place. Little Harbor up the way is even more incredible.

Here's a better way to say it:

In 2 months (September) you can say "Next month (October) it'll be time for Halloween snow!"

We are only 3 days removed from seeing the 540 line dip down near the US Border....a rarity in the near middle of summer!  How far behind can fall be now?  LOL

In a month I may, *may* be ready for fall. But I doubt it. I am not ready for cool weather.

You're more than ready for Franklin post game pressers when he says "obviously" 43 times in 9 minutes.

And there's truly only one thing that's obvious...
