Very surprised to see these readings - somehow Maytown made it down to 44 this morning.

Please understand that my reading this morning in no way affected my decision to leave the house in my short sleeve polo without any sort of jacket. Still a long way to go for that nonsense.

This morning's low here in East Nantmeal of 48.5 degrees represents the coldest early autumn season temperature in my 21 years of weather records in the Township. The previous record was the 48.1 on September 6, 2013. The lowest temperature I could find across the County this morning was the 42.8 at Warwick Twp.
Below normal temps will slowly warm back to near normal by Thursday before rain chances increase toward the weekend and we again fall back to below normal by the end of next weekend.
Chester County records for today: High temperature 103 degrees at Phoenixville (1953) / Low 41 degrees also at Phoenixville (1916) / Rain 3.72" at West Chester MADIS (2012)

Very impressive cold snap this morning in central Pennsylvania. Been awhile since we've seen something like this - maybe May 2020?

The low of 36F at Bradford matches the second lowest on record for this date.

The low of 44F at DuBois is the 4th lowest reading on record for this date.

At Altoona, the low of 43F matches the record low for this date set in 1958 & 1967.

And at some longer POR sites...

The low of 47F at Williamsport ties 1949, 1960, 1976, 1989 & 2001 for ninth coldest.

At Harrisburg, the low of 50F ties 1892, 1893, and 1916 for 3rd coldest on record for this date:

In Florida you can usually tell the UF Grads from the FSU grads just by listening to a few sentences.

I'd rather not listen to either. And as far as the on the field product, they both suck the same amount of shit right now.

At Harrisburg, this is the first daily low temperature reading among the top three coldest of any day since May 18, 2023, when the low of 40F was third lowest for that date.

By contrast, there have been an incredible 22 days in which the recorded high temperature was among the 3 warmest daily readings since May 18, 2023, and 27 days in which the recorded minimum temperature was among the 3 warmest of record in that stretch.

Left the cabin yesterday at 2pm.  Was 62 up on top.  normal early fall colors starting to show.

Loving this weather.  Enjoy all.

I enjoyed reading an axios article about the POSSIBLE epic fail of the long term models and potential bust about the hurricanes or lack thereof.  I enjoy this because as you all know, I love weather, but hate destructive weather...especially tornadic and hurricane as they do far more catastrophic damage than a good ol fashioned blizzard, especially as we live in times where people cancel life at the mention of a snowflake and can safely hunker down.

I hope we do that kind of hunkering down a plenty this year.  Still up in the air on that.

Posting this piece after your other posts here today sort of reminds me of this 3 min piece of The Office.
