Stat nerds do me a solid if it is possible
I’d be interested in comparing CXY this July’s temp averages / means to DFW’s, including today’s 101 or 102.
First one is Cap City. Screenshot_20240717-062134_Chrome.jpgScreenshot_20240717-062312_Chrome.jpg

Yikes! Just looked at my old back yard, BWI, and they got to 104 yesterday. Time to quit complaining.

The Western and Central LSV drought and tumbleweed areas took a hit yesterday.   For Franklin County, this is the 3rd or 4th year out of the last 5 with a D2 designation as the half decade or more summer drought continues.   Made it to 99 here.

All good here. We were at a happy hour for a friend’s surprise Bday party when the storm hit. It blew around some umbrellas outside but nothing too crazy. No real damage in our neighborhood either, but a beautiful line that rolled through! Looks like about a half inch. MUCH needed.

Ended up with 0.47”. Very much needed rainfall yesterday.

By then the yards and vegetation (farms) are done if drought is evident.
True but it matters for the most important things like our ground water, lakes, rivers, forests

Yep.  I suspect dry ground, lack of clouds and a lower Dp led to some of the higher temps here.  Nighttime lows were still in the 60's/near 70 with no HIA for many of those locations so 35-40 diurnal range.

MDT's current low of 77 would tie a record for the day but a chance they are lower by midnight.   Only the HRRR suggests they are still in the mid 70's when 11:59PM rolls around...all other mesos's near 70.   In winter the midnight high is always an issue...midnight lows in summer.   The Fv3 is serving up a nice cup of 40's for NW PA Friday AM.

There seems to be no agreement on meso models of who gets the goods today

Widespread 90's again yesterday. In fact yesterday was the first time I have recorded back to back 90 degree days in East Nantmeal since July19-21st in 2020. Another shot at 90 today...but with a strong front sweeping in from the west by late PM or early evening it may keep some folks just below 90 degrees. Strong storms are again possible this evening and then a great stretch of weather with temperatures even a little below normal for Thursday and Friday. Of note on average tomorrow the 18th is the warmest day of the year...for those who love winter average temps begin a slow fall that will continue until the coldest day of the year on January 21st.
Daily Chester County records for today: High 101 degrees at West Chester (1988) / Low 42 degrees at Devault (1954)/ Rain 2.61" at Phoenixville (2018)
