Yeah, I remain skeptical.  Even if it is doing well with verification at 500mb, the actual weather matters more.

NAM's 850s top out at 20-21C.  GFS is around 22C.  Euro is 22-23C.

It's definitely warmer this morning. Even the mesonet stations in Maryland, which are placed in open areas away from UHI effects, only dropped into the upper 70s to near 80 degrees last night.

17.4C on the morning sounding at IAD.  The models diverge by 00z this evening, with the GFS already pushing 20 and the NAM stuck in the 18 range.  I can't fathom that the NAM will be correct here.

00z IAD sounding will tell the tale then!

68 for the low this morning in Great Falls.  Same as the last few nights (68-67-68).

83 at 11am.  1 degree warmer than yesterday at this time.  IAD is running 3 degrees above yesterday at 11 (85 vs. 82).

DCA should hit 90 at noon or close to it.  Prob looking at 95-97 today I would think unless we get clouds or a more dominant south wind.  Although the Potomac is heating up - water temp in the Washington Channel (closest buoy to DCA) is 83F.

90 at home.  That was easy.

I'm a little more bullish on heat than I might otherwise be simply because of how dry it is.

88/70 here, same as DCA.  Definitely warmer today.

93F at my nearest weatherbug, and certainly feels that way in the full sun. DP of 68 and humidity at 49%, which imo makes being in the shade still nice if there's a slight breeze. Seems like the breeze is dying though.

Neighborhood parks/ball fields are scorched and crunchy. Forests will start to droop and lose leaves if this continues, too.

...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 8 PM EDT
SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Heat index values up to around 105 to 107 expected, with
heat index values generally between 100 and 104 degrees west of
  the Blue Ridge Mountains.

* WHERE...Portions of central, north central, northeast,
northern, southern and western Maryland, The District of
Columbia, central, northern and northwest Virginia and eastern
  and panhandle West Virginia.

* WHEN...From 11 AM to 8 PM EDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  illnesses to occur.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Oppressive heat and humidity will
overspread the area Saturday and last into Sunday. Little relief
from the heat is expected Saturday night with low temperatures
in mid 70s to near 80 for most, which will compound heat stress
  on those without air conditioning.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out
of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young
children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles
under any circumstances.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when
possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational
Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent
rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone
overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

That place is in a league of it's own.

there is a lot of huffing and puffing about the location of official sites that I think is way overblown (like KNYC is in the middle of a park, yet people still complain it is not representative of NYC).  However EWR is ridiculous.

You can always tell the transplants from Buffalo and northern parts about now. They drive around with their windows down and big smiles on their faces.

That was me yesterday, though I did alternate between that and A/C.  The older I get the more I prefer sun and warm weather.  Heat waves are pushing it, though.
