Going to be a 00.00” and another 00 for today on the south shore. I guess this was the climo before we started changing the environment 200 years ago. The extreme south shore was an extension from of the pine barrens. For lack of water not lack the of the soil nutrients.

There's almost always a dry season this time of year on the extreme south shore.

Wow, this sucks, for those of us that care about plants on western Long Island. We totally missed again (yesterday too): the last line in Pa is wreaking as expected.

I’m in PA and with the exception of a brief shower yesterday evening also have had virtually nothing this weekend.

It’s really strange. Because even the east end had storms yesterday and today. And currently there is a nice line of storms over Nantucket. One of yhese days I’ll figure it out. But we have gone to flash drought for sure.

78 / 63 clouds splitting the region in half.  Cooler today and the heatwave breaks as the trough and front bring 18 hours of a reprieve from the heat.  Clouds and scattered Ridge  pushes and bumps  surge of heat north on Tue (6/25) and Wed (6/26).   >20c 850 MB temps by Wed, only clouds and showers/storms will blunt upper 90s to 100.  A 2 day cool down Thu (6/27) - Fri (6/28) before next surge of heat this weekend Sat (6/29) - Sun (6/30).

Beyond there overall warmer - hot and humid after a day or two of a brief cooldown for the holiday weekend as ridging looks to maintain into the east.

Looks like the 100° heat stays suppressed to our south through July 4th. We’ll have to wait and see if the 100° heat this past week was just a one-off  or the appetizer for more 100° heat in July. There are examples of both outcomes from the past with early season June 100° heat in our area.

Past 5 days axis of 100° heat across the area

Next 10 days 100° heat stays south

it is possible we will not have another heatwave like we just had for the erst pf the summer in nyc..

Very hard to have a heat wave like we just had. I've learned to never say never, but I could see many 3 day heat waves this summer.

Nice to get a break from the heat and humidity today. It feels invigorating out there.

More beautiful weather like this coming up at the end of the week. Friday looks like it could be a top 10 day of the year with sunshine, very low humidity (dewpoints in the 40s) and high temps in the low 80s.

We do have a hot humid day coming up on Wednesday. Hopefully it will be a good severe weather day. The models are showing a nice round of storms late in the day. Looking forward to some good storms.

Wed (6/26) and Sun (6/30) have >20c 850mb potentially.  With recent dryness and enough sun, temps will overperform. Both day may have storms/showers and clouds nearby.  Today, Fri (6/28) , and Mon (7/1) look NW flow - low humidity gems, so sustained heat with brief interludes of drier/cooler look to progress the next week - 8 days,
