WxWatcher007
What a wild night. What a wild week. I was damn sure going to be here for this one. Watched a big light show and some possible lowering as the storms got close and the watched Hartford’s lights get obscured by an absolute torrent of rain and brief wind. Not as strong as other locations, but legit. 8
Snowedin
Heck of a light show right now after another soaking. Weird how we always seem to get so much more lightning on the backside of these convective bands.
weatherwiz
Snip it of video with the two power flashes just before the winds came. I had to have seen a dozen power flashes tonight
CoastalWx
It did get quite windy here too, more than I thought it would. Seems like some damage in SE MA.

wxsniss
Impressive event to watch on radar I didn't measure but I'm guessing this was probably close to derecho criteria? 60 mile span with multiple mesovorts / bows, frequent gusts > 58 mph along most of its length, several gusts > 75 mph... but maybe was < 400 miles in duration? Outflow starting outpacing the band around Providence

Outflow starting outpacing the band around Providence 400 Miles takes you to about the mid-point of PA. A lot of wind damage reports over that distance, but most of them are without a specific wind reading.

CoastalWx
Last derecho ripped through here in pearly Oct 2021 I believe. That was a hell of an event here.
Ginx snewx
Woke up to this in the front of my house. Only damage here was to my Hydrangea. Ride in looks like Killingly Ct took the brunt with multiple trees down split along RT 12 at the Plainfield line.

CoastalWx
Definitely some interesting rise fall stuff. Winds from that line off the Cape are ESE here. SE MA hit hard. From Attleboro to Duxbury. Good event. Looks like about 1.5” total.

weatherwiz
I am still kind of in awe about the BDL wind gust but also very curious. I wonder if that strongest core just happened to go over the station. I didn't do much driving along 75 just because it was super dark and its not well lit. But when I was heading to the highway and went down some roads, I didn't notice any big damage or come across power outages. Might have been a super small, concentrated core. I still can't get over last night though...just the amount of lightning and power flashes.
weatherwiz
Also, that has to be the strongest wind gust at BDL since 5/31/98 I would think?
WhiteLawns
Unfortunately there was a fatality in ct last night due to the wind. A man was found under a tree this morning.

The highest winds split Tolland north and south. But to have 50k out of power statewide this morning from a derecho is pretty nice
