I’ve wanted to play Bretwood, the 36 hole place across town but haven’t gotten the chance yet. Report back on what you think.
GaWx
@kdxken @Chrisrotary12 and anyone else who may be interested, the deadline to enter the AmericanWx PGA Championship pool with your five players and prediction of the winning 72 hole score to par is 7AM tomorrow. You can go to 2024 PGA Tour thread in Sports Zone forum to enter and see the scoring rules. No prizes/money. Just for fun. RUNNAWAYICEBERG
Good pGA championship. The Course played easier than I’d like but the best player won.

About Schauffle and the course. I wonder if the format the LIV guys play hurts them when they have to play four rounds and deal with a cut. It seems like they have started to fade at the majors. Except for DeChambeau this week.

I used to think that as well but Brooks shot 5 under yesterday as did DJ. Bryson as you mentioned. Burmester played really well too. I think just one liv player missed the cut? Chrisrotary12
Played in my second New Hampshire Golf Association event this past Sunday. Partner event at Keene Country Club. 1st 6 holes: fourball 2nd 6 holes: modified alternate shot 3rd 6 holes: scramble Partner & I: -1, +5, -5 = -1 and a T-11. (alternate shot is hard)

It’s a really good design T2G with lots of unique holes but the greens are too easy so with the soft conditions players were attacking the flags on approach. They need to redo the greens if they want another major imo.
Chrisrotary12
One thing I’ve noticed about my own game over the past couple years is that if you have a strong short game, you can still score well. Last Friday at Passaconaway in Litchfield I struggled but I chipped in three times (once for birdie, twice for par). Ended with a +3 74. Last Monday I had nothing at Overlook in Hollis. I played from the wrong hole 6 times, hit 1 fairway and I don’t think I had a birdie putt inside 40 ft all day. But my putter was working and I shot the ugliest +5 76 the course has ever seen. All this to say boys & girls to practice your short game!

All this to say boys & girls to practice your short game! My game is miles away from yours but when I was at my lowest handicap, 13, it was almost entirely due to my short game and putting. Having said that, I still think a lot of it stems from driving. If I keep putting myself in poor positions it's almost like starting with a penalty stroke. If I am in an adjacent fairway, I will struggle getting back into position, especially if there are trees in the way, whereas someone at your level has the ability to get back into position easier and may salvage par or bogey at worst where I often end up with a double. That is fair. Easiest ways to save strokes: keep it in play off tee don’t chunk strong short game

Modfan2
Played River Ridge yesterday in Griswold CT, another Eastern CT gem, course was in great shape, greens slow, plenty of elevation changes and great food and beer selection at the restaurant at the clubhouse.

To keep it more interesting and to add incentive/make it fairer to enter earlier, I will not allow any entrant with the identical six golfers that any earlier entrant already picked. To avoid confusion, I’m asking folks to enter only in that thread as opposed to here. Scoring rules will be identical to what was used for the PGA except you need to pick 6 instead of 5 golfers. Deadline is Thursday (6/13) at 6:30AM EDT. Thanks. There’s already one entrant (not me).
kdxken
The guy I know son is leading the Mass open and set the course record yesterday. mreaves
Rory just got back together with his wife. Maybe that will help him. Not sure how you can’t have Bryson after his showings in the first two majors. Scheffler is obvious, Schauffle and Morikawa are playing well. I would never count out Koepka either. There’s always a wildcard but I’m not sure who. Maybe Keegan Bradley because he’s been playing decently and he grew up in VT.

It’s long sure but what I’ve read/watched is it will require a great short game with flops and finesse shots since the greens mostly fall away from the pins like a dome. This is the total opposite of wingfoot. The analysts could be wrong though and after the past couple majors, Bryson has gotten a lot easier to root for so I hope he does well.
