Pretty nice day here.  Sunny, light winds, 48 for the high.  Tomorrow looks like a warm spring day with a high in the low 60's (haven't had many), then turning a lil rainy Monday night.  Tuesday will see a morning high around 48 with temps falling to around 30 for the afternoon as rain changes to snow with an inch or so. Upper teens possible Tuesday night.  Maples have some buds but other than that, the green up hasn't begun here.

Apparently record low (24) set at Dubuque today. Didn't think we were in any kind of noteworthy cold pattern for doing that. :(

Sadly, pretty impressive for what some declared to be cold shot overdone by forecast guidance.

Although a new record wasn't technically set due to a midnight high of 63*F, DFW spent much of the daylight hours yesterday in the upper 40s & lower 50s. The official record minimum high was 53*F.

Hopefully, after today, we're done with the 50s/60s until next "Winter."

It’s really what benefits us the in the Central Great Lakes. Part of why the wine is so good around Lake Erie, really moderates these hard freezes on the Islands

Had a low of 39 today and 37 yesterday.  Lake Michigan is helping out for sure.

I got down to -2.5C/28F this morning, blue skies at least. Thankfully no wind which made it okay unlike the past 4 days of horrible chilly winds! Late last week it would be raining and dark overcast in the mornings and then clear up by mid afternoon seemingly 3 days in a row. First part of April was good but starting early last week wx has been terrible.

Partially true. But the main reason historically for the fruit growing belt is actually the opposite. The proximity to the Great Lakes keeps it colder in the early/mid spring depressing vegetation development until after the threat of frost and freeze was largely over. And then of course if there were late season frosts and freeze, providing enough moderation to minimize the threat.

Looks like one more frost/freeze potential Wednesday-Thursday, then it should be all systems go for planting season. Active pattern looks to be shaping up as well.

ready for consistent warm weather, my son has grown an interest in hiking and camping, so lots of that on the agenda this summer.

Ha! At KPSP when it hit 100 the dew was 36 for a relative humidity of 11% and a heat index of only 95. Too funny.

Vegas was 90/16/84 yesterday, RH 7%. And even that's nothing, especially in June when the heat really kicks in but it's still before monsoon season.

It's not uncommon to see June afternoons around 100/5/92, RH 3%.  At 3PM on 7/2/2007, it was 110/-7/99, RH 1%...just insanely dry.

Gust front moved in off the Lake. Winds picked up some from 5-15 to 15-25, and temps went from 54-55 to 39-40 in 30 min. Currently light/misty rain falling. BRRR!

Sun came out, and temps recovered to the upper 40's. Rollercoaster day.

I never made any claims about this past weekend's (short-lived) cold shot being overdone. The one we're about to see, however, was 100% overdone by guidance (in both intensity AND duration), which I made very clear last week. Regardless, people shouldn't be complaining about this April as it's been quite nice for the most part. Unlike 2018 when nearly the entire month was stuck in a wintry pattern.

One of the more volatile April’s I can remember here in Toledo. It’s been steadily in the 50s since Saturday, we’re going to have a hard freeze tomorrow night, and be around 80° all weekend with lows in the 60’s. Just bonkers

10th warmest mean temperature over the first 23 days. Prior to 2006, only 4 years were warmer (1955, 1977, 1878, and 1985), and the last one by only a tenth of a degree.
