got to 80 in the park i feel a little faint not use to the heat...

It’s pretty rare for NYC to have their first 80° day before Newark. But the lack of leaves on the trees to block the ASOS coupled with the bay breeze at Newark allowed them to do it. It’s also rare this time of year for NYC to beat Newark by 3°.

Spent Sunday and Monday upstate NY and Vermont, watching eclipse. Different world up there. Still snow on the ground in many areas and very little if any in the way of spring foliage. In the higher elevations going from Plattsburgh to Newport Vt. some areas had, what looked to be, about a foot of snow on the ground.

First time since 1992 that NYC had its first 80° of the year before Newark.

Pocatello ID warmed from a record low of 19 above to an afternoon high of 63 degrees. (The National Weather Summary)

1989 - Strong northerly winds, gusting to 53 mph at Albuquerque, NM, ushered cold arctic air into the south central U.S. The temperature at Albuquerque plunged from 82 degrees to 29 degrees overnight. Thirty-three cities in the central U.S. reported record low temperatures for the date, including Goodland KS with a reading of 4 degrees above zero. (The National Weather Summary)

Yep we could salvage most of the next 3 days. Today looks like an overperformer on Temps

Looks mostly like a spring elevated convective event now focused during Thursday night. Good MUCAPE and near record PWATS will probably result in some locally heavy downpours. So more of a spring-like feel than our other recent storms which were big washouts.

Yeah, looks like our first possible extended warm up next week as the blocking pattern which began around 3-20 begins to fade. We could see our first 85° readings of the season in the warm spots after the first 80° highs yesterday.

Good agreement with GEFS and EPS for that period before ridge goes away after the 20th. Hope the signal stays as we get closer to the period.
